Finally made it to the movie last night and I thought it was great. I have read alot of Batman comic books and IMHO they got the Joker dead on. At least the comic books I read he wasnt a goof ball he was more of the sadistic Joker played by Ledger. And no they have never truly explained his background and even the Joker doesnt really know.

They sure left this one wide open for a sequel if they decide to do one.

I thought it sounded like Michael Ironside for some reason.

I was a bit disappointed in the IMAX presentation in parts. The rooftop and jump scenes were REALLY cool, but it didn't add much to the couple of other scenes that were shot for it.

Stan Lee is in Marvel Comics (Spider Man).
Batman is DC Comics.

I am just saying is all. I do not completely agree with all of the comparisons. I would like to have seen and would have gone along with it more if it had been in the next instalment. The mention of it sounding more like a vigilante would work out better than in this part of the series because that is what he will end up being in part three. I heard that it looks like he will be fending off the Police and villians in the next one. I have also heard rumors that it could be Depp as the Riddler and Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the Penguin. Both are rather interesting choices to play those roles. I did not think that they could come close to being able to fill Carey's Shoes, but if it sticks it just may work. I know that not all will see it like that. Hoffman could pull off either and or any. He is just that good. I could be alone on this and Depp. What do you guys think?

Did he let the Scarecrow go? Was he on the boat later?

I think the prisoner who threw the thing out the window shows up in the next movie.

Doing the Riddler or Penguin in the next movie is cheap. I expect a name that was not frequently on the old TV show.

I don't think he knew it was the Scarecrow as he had taken off his mask before he was caught. Batman assumed he was one of those vigilantes.

The acting was tremendous. It was a great movie all in all. And I'm not predjudiced just because I saw Bale and Oldman and Eckhart and some of the writers and directors at a conference live in Chicago during shooting last year and see the first showing of the trailer that even the actors hadn't seen yet. Man that was cool...but I digress...

I think some things seemed a bit forced. Off the top of my head, why was it necessary for Gordon to make Batman out to be the bad guy in order to make Dent a posthumous hero? Why not just say the Joker or some henchman had the Gordon family and Harvey died trying to save them before Batman got there? It just seemed pushed, as a way to drive Batman farther underground. How about having Lucius Fox get so holier-than-thou about Bats using the cell phone web to find the Joker? It's not like he was using it to do insider trading or listen in on someone's pillow talk, for Pete's sake. All the other Batman stuff was okay with him, but not using a network of a million unlistened-to private conversations in combination to find a psycho killer?

Some things also seemed a bit left hanging and not really in a "tune in next movie" way...like Joker saying he was only burning his half of the money. What happened to the other half, the other bosses? Assuming Lao (?) died in the fire...not really definitively shown, but I'm assuming...a lot of that mob-boss ring stuff seemed to float off in midair without resolution.

Oh, and the Batcave-to-Wayne-Towers move was something that was done in the comics in the 70's. I guess someone thought it was cool and used it.

Harvey Dent doesn't die. That's why Batman and Gordon choose to blame Batman for Dent's murders. It's to preserve his image and hope he continues on with his fight.

I loved the movie but for the writing as much as the "action". The psychological bent used with the Joker was fabulous and in no way did I think they should have taken out any dialogue. The writing itself was wonderfully Stephen King or Silence of Lambs like. The Jokers insanity is rooted unreal intelligence and violence mixed together.

History Channel ran a show called "Batman Unmasked: The Psychology of the Dark Knight". It was a excellent show. They included the entire history of Batman but focused more on the newest incarnation. The connection was made between Batman's persona and that of Teddy Roosevelt. It fit to a "T".

The psychological disposition of the villians is examined and they're flawless. The true sociopath (Joker), the narcissist (Riddler), the sadist (Scarecrow) and others I can't remember. It was fantastic.
