I just saw In Bruges. Incredible flick...even that joke about Tottenham.

Anyone know what that toaster salesman thought of Vantage Point?

Saw, THE BANK JOB the other night. Not bad. I would've enjoyed it more had I not recently seen other bank movies that I enjoyed more like FLAWLESS and INSIDE MAN.

I did like the fact it was based on a true story. Who would've ever thought that was the reason the bank was robbed back then? There's so much in life that goes on that we're totally oblivious to...this movie helped cement that idea even more firmly.

Oh, I just saw Vantage Point as well.

I didn't hate it as much as Rubicon-Ka-Bong did, but what was up with Forrest Whitaker? I generally like him but he just went WAY overboard in this movie. Strange man.

Forest Whitaker is genuinely aweful in every movie he has ever been in except Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

caveat- I have, but have not yet watched "Last King of Scotland" which I hear was good. I'm avoiding it b/c Charles Jefferson stars in it.

I lump him in with Keanu and Cage as one note actors who play the same person in every movie.

I thought The Last King of Scotland was pretty good and Whitaker's performance was quite compelling, but if you don't like the guy, you probably won't like the movie.

Just watched In Brueges---brilliant writing, brilliant acting----tough at times to make out the dialog. Favorite line:

"Don't be stupid, this is the shoot-out"

You've seen that? Now that is obscure. Awesome movie.

MsPac, tell BK to shaddup about Tottenham. He is so hateful.

[EDIT]: BK, Tottenham are not mediocre. We are bottom of the table. That is downright sucky. Stick it up your...

Time to Chime:

Memento: Mind-bender mystery about a man with no short-term memory trying to get revenge on the man who killed his wife. The story is told backward in a series of connected flashbacks. It's a little confusing at first, but very effective because it forces you to see events as the main character does - with no idea of what happened before. It'll keep you guessing, and the acting is very, very good (Guy Pearce, Joe Pantoliano and Carrie-Anne Moss).

Yellowbeard: Hysterical, screw-ball comedy about a famous pirate and his very un-pirate-like son. If you like Mel Brooks, Monty Python and Cheech & Chong give this a try. It's all three wrapped up in one.

1408: Paranormal debunker (John Cusack) keeps hearing about a haunted hotel room and decides to check it out for himself. I was expecting a run-of-the-mill ghost movie, but this one took me by surprise. Excellent story, excellent acting and some truly great special effects.

Murder by Death: Clue-like comedy murder mystery, but much better done. Millionaire Lionel Twain (Truman Capote) hosts a dinner-murder mystery for a group of famous (and strangely familiar) detectives. Peter Falk, James Coco, David Niven, Peter Sellers and Maggie Smith head an all-star cast. A genuinely funny movie.

Yellowbear reminded me of one of my favorite movies, Eric the Viking.

Thorfinn's Mum: And you've got BOTH axes?
Thorfinn: Yes, Mother.
Thorfinn's Mum: And something to sharpen them with?
Throfinn: Yes, Mum.
Thorfinn's Mum: And don't forget: never let your enemy get behind you.
Thorfinn: No, Mother.
Throfin's Mum: And keep your sword greased.
Throfinn: Yes, Mother. Goodbye, Dad.
Thorfinn's Dad: And don't forget to wash - you know - ALL over.
Thorfinn: No, Dad.
Throfinn's Mum: And if you have to kill somebody, KILL them! Don't stop to think about it.
Thorfinn: I never do...
