Bought my tix for the IMAX on Thursday online to see the movie at 10:00 AM Sunday morning. I'm glad I did. Sat in about the 4th row. When Batman dives off a building, I lost my stomach. Crazy the tricks your mind can play.

Don't know about Ledger "stealing the show" but he was outstanding no question. Christian Bale is pretty tough to beat as an actor.

The movie is fantastic and held my attention for the entire 2.5 hours. Not an easy feat for any movie to hold my attention that long.

Tried to see it on IMAX at 10:30 last night. It was sold out. WTF, sold out on a Sunday night(knight? Wink)? You just got me jacked up to see it in IMAX. Lost your stomach? COOL!

There were plans for the Joker to be in at least 2 more of the movies so I imagine the back story would have been hashed out then. It's going to be tough to top this one.

Thanks for reminding me about that movie I had totally forgot about it since I saw a "coming soon" preview a while back.

That is what I noticed too. People would laugh and I'd be like WTF is funny about that? It's like they were trying to find funny parts and there really were not many. I recall laughing at a couple of scenes, the pencil scene and the "you complete me" line was great. What was really funny was the same people who were laughing at some of the non-comedic moments didn't laugh at that line. I never saw Brokeback Mountain but I thought throwing that line in was great.

That being said I really did like the movie I just didn't get all the forced laughter from the patrons. Heath Ledger was very good and if Hollywood continues to be the phony group they are he will likely win many awards for this movie. Nevermind the fact that a movie like this (i.e., good or a movie people actually like) never wins any awards or even nominations.

OK, I am going to display some intense ignorance, but what the heck is IMAX? Is that like a different kind of movie theater or something?

Like Boris said, it's the difference between being really close to throwing up vs. mild nausea in a traditional stadium theater when you see it.

Saw it for the 1st time last night. Felt like a lil kid all over again.

Just an incredible film. Ledger and Bale were incredible.

And no matter his role, cant get enough of Morgan Freeman either.

phaedrus.....They're specially built theatres (2-3 times taller than normal ) with as I recall, curved screens. IMAX movies are shot with special types of cameras---I guess it's like the movie equivilant of HD.

No kidding. That dude could narrate some hypothetical movie about the life of penguins or something idiotic like that, and I'd be fascinated.

Best line of the movie I thought was the Joker telling Batman how their lives would have no meaning without one another...

"You complete me".

Got some really great laughs in the theater. No problem spoofing Tom Cruise, especally since Katie is no longer in the film.

I thought some of the laughter was very "shadnefreude" during the movie. Most of the laughter I heard was more of the "hehehe" or the sick laughter when you know something is wrong but you can't help BUT laugh.

Mods

Can you guys certify somehow that we won't get Rick-rolled on these links?

How about a smiley face or something that can be put next to the link?

I haven't seen the movie, but let me guess... good triumphs over evil and the good guy gets the girl. Razzer

Some day they will make a movie right up my alley: The bad girl gets the nerdy guy. Big Grin

I disagree with this comment, and I thought on a technical basis Bale's somewhat schizophrenic performance is perfect. As Bruce Wayne he has the calm, cool exterior of someone who has never really worried about where his next meal is coming from. But with the cowl and cape on he reverts to a disturbed avenger that is a variation on the Joker's anarchy-fueled destruction. That voice is a key component, to me. He always sounds like he's ready to kill anything he can, so mad he's practically spitting at the camera.

With all the hype over Ledger, most people won't give Bale his due. But he truly owns this role now...

Hmm, you might want to see this one, Tooner. You might be in for a shock.

I don't think him changing his voice was bad, it just got so gravely at times you could barely understand what he was saying. It was good in Batman Begins but a little over the top in TDK.
