This might get moved to another forum, but I figured we could use a break from all the Favre drama. So I'll start it here...

This movie comes out, what, Friday? I know I'm going to see it on Imax Sunday afternoon with Armored N.O. Saint and his new bride.

I am so looking forward to this, I can't tell ya!!!!! I usually don't get super excited about new movies coming out, but this is a rare exception. With all due respect to Michael Keaton, Christian Bale is the best Bruce Wayne/Batman ever, and from what I've been hearing, Heath Ledger's Joker performance is going to garner him serious Oscar consideration. And Maggie Gyllenhaal replacing Mrs. Cruise is a big time improvement. After seeing her in Secretary, I've always liked her tonguewag. Not beautiful in a classical sense, but there's something about her...she's a little bit naughty. Wink

Every single review I've read thus far have pointed towards one conclusion. It's a masterpiece. And seeing this work of art on a big ass digital screen has me waiting with great anticipation!!!!

Christopher Nolan has not only revived the franchise, he's taking it to new heights.

If you're one of the three people on the planet that haven't seen this most excellent trailer, check it out!!!

Dark Knight clicky!

Why so serious!?????

Seeing it on IMAX as well. I went to see I am Legend in IMAX last year. The best part of the movie. The 6 minute Dark Knight bank robbery trailer.

I'm going Friday to see it in IMAX as well. The early reviews say it's well deserving of the hype it's getting. All the performances from Eckhart, Bale, Ledger especially, Oldman, and Cain are very good. There were I think 4 or 5 action sequences that were shot in IMAX so I'm really looking forward to seeing those parts!

FYI: The on location Gotham City scenes were filmed in Chicago. Including some awesome stunts and vehicle crashes that other cities apparently wouldn't allow. So I guess Chicago = Gotham City.

I 'had' to take my teenage girls and son to the midnight showing last night.

I say 'had' because I wasn't looking forward to it. My son was watching the George Clooney version on TV and I anticipated more of the same. Plus I had to work today.

Dark Knight was AWESOME. I'm so old/out of touch(not really) but I did not know Heath Ledger was the Joker. During the movie I commented what a great Joker he played. Better than Nicholson. He was fantastic.

Great line at the start of the movie. "Want to see a pencil disappear"

The movie held interest throughtout, great action, the plot left a few details out towards the end (how is that Joker so clever to set so many traps), but overall a 9.5 rating.

I agree...just got back. Freaking amazing!!! Best Batman film yet. Ledger does blow Nicholson away in this...Bale does Batman perfectly. 2.5 hours, but it literally flew by--no slow parts at all. Just all around excellent!!!

The pencil line did rock! I also thought it was cool to see them bring in some parts that hint at some of the other Batman graphic novels I have--if they keep making these, there are some doozys out there! Headbanger

I agree, it was simply great. I give it 12 stars out of 10.

Ledger's performance was quite possibly the best I've ever seen. If he doesn't sweep all the awards, then those people are idiots. Aaron Eckhart was underrated but extremely good. Bale of course was spot on but his super deep gravely Batman voice was a tad annoying. All of the other actors gave great performances also.

Even if you didn't like the first one (Batman Begins), The Dark Knight is light years better. Even if your not a Batman, superhero, Heath Ledger, or whatever fan, it's worth going to see because it's more than just a superhero/Batman/Heath Ledger movie.

I think Chris Nolan the director said he would direct only 1 more and the actors are all signed on for 1 more. I think that's good because quality drops off if you get into more than 3 movies. The hardest job Chris Nolan and all the actors have is following up this great movie with another that could be as good! I was even more sad after the movie that Heath Ledger will not be making any more movies, he was so talented and this was his mega-breakthrough.

Just came back from it. Incredible movie. I loved Batman Begins, but this was a quantum leap better. Still, this was the 2nd best movie I have seen this week. "In Bruges" was special. It has been a good movie week.

Seriously, I HATE overhyped movies, but this was the best movie I've seen this year and the best of the Batman movies. Ledger played it perfectly, hiding every bit of his previous roles it seemed, and resisting the campiness. You really got a glimpse into an insane mind in this movie. And the other actors, particularly Bale, were also pitch perfect.

i know it's an "action" movie, but there was a lot that ties into news events of this decade that make it fairly thoughtful. the two boats thing near the end. The FISA bill Congress has argued about relating to the Morgan Freeman creation near the end. The story has real resonance with this decades fight against terrorism, especially with the Joker's motivations, and some of the lines from Michael Caine to explain him.

Really great. I'm going again to see it in IMAX.

Are both films directed by the same director?

I believe directing a movie and making a good movie may be the hardest job. Think of it...actors, egos, plots, visions, screenwriters, producers, suppliers, timing, budgets, deadlines, etc.

To make a popular, critically acclaimed, financially successful movie may be on the most difficult jobs there is.

Yeah Christopher Nolan directed both.

You're right on the other stuff. From what I've read about TDK, Nolan was pretty much told to make a money maker and a great movie and was basically given whatever he needed. He had free range to make a great movie and he succeeded. Just like what YA said, it's not just a shoot 'em up, superhero action movie, it's artistic and deep.

Just got back from the Dark Knight, and wow. It was an event more than a movie. Long line to get into the IMAX, sold out, and the movie really delivered. I went in expecting to like it based on the reviews, but the gritty action/superhero genre coupled with the strong terrorism/morality overtones really made for a great experience.

It was much better entertainment than this Favre crap thats been dominating the media lately.

Go see it.
