Browns will spend the summer shopping for a cornerback

quote:
The best way to find a cornerback may be to find a team looking for a tight end or a fullback. Think about all the tight ends on the Cleveland roster: Kellen Winslow, Steve Heiden, Martin Rucker and Darnell Dinkins.

Think the Packers might have some interest?

You think the Packers are deep at CB?

Wait, Will Blackmon for Kellen Winslow.

Throw in Mark Roman and it's a deal.

OK, I'll think about them.

Rucker is a guy they traded away a third-round pick next season in order to move up for in this year's draft. Probably not going to trade him.

Winslow has a bum knee that seems likely to shorten his career. Oh yeah, he's also a potential holdout since he wants a new contract -- perhaps realizing that his career will be short. The Browns admitted they were thinking about his knees when they traded up for Rucker, who has the same skill set (receiver, non-blocker).

Heiden is 32 (in September) and had back surgery in late April!

Dinkins has 20 receptions. Since 2002.

The Packers are deep in TEs. Donald Lee, Tory Humphrey, Jermicheal Finley, Heynos, and that other kid, Evan Moore or something like that. They'll end up with four guys who can play, barring injury.
When they drafted Jordi Nelson, I thought they'd switch him to TE, being that the Packers seem to love drafting guys and switching their positions. But I don't think that's gonna be at all necessary.

Nelson weighs 215 pounds. I don't think there was or will ever be any thought to moving him to tight end. He's a pure wide receiver and he'll be a good one.

Also, I'm not sure how deep the Packers are at TE. They have one pretty good one in Lee and a bunch of others who haven't done a thing in the NFL.

I frequently make predictions (both good and bad) about players who have not yet done anything in the NFL.

I remember the "good." Rodgers will be better than Favre. Brandon Jackson will be a stud. We have three Pro Bowl caliber safeties. I think I've missed the young players of ours that you've said will be bad.

Don't get me wrong, Winslow's really good. But they're definitely worried about his future. He really messed up his knee. And that's aside from the contract situation, which will probably be problematic.

Yeah, that's why you have to have guts to post stuff like that. Right now I'm high on most of the Packers players. I'm also high on MM and TT. I'm NOT high on Schottenheimer, and I'm NOT high on Bob Sanders.
I think Vernand Morency pretty much sucks. I'm tired of Colledge teasing me. But I think we have alot of good players.

Worst yet, he's a first class jagoff. No thanks on that loud mouth "Soldier."
