The BEST LIVING QB just came home to Lambeau, and the office said its closed?
Where were Ted and Mike 17 years ago?
NOT IN LAMBEAU !

Why would Joe Montana be "coming home" to Lambeau?

And if I'm not horribly mistaken, TT was on Wolf's staff when Favre came aboard (or very shortly thereafter).

There's a great story about when Wolf was considering the trade for Favre he asked Thompson to evaluate some game tapes. Wolf wanted to know Thompson's thoughts...

From Thompson's bio:

quote:

Thompson fondly recalls one of the first experiences with Wolf, as the general manager asked for assistance in assessing a young quarterback.

"He came to me with three game tapes of the preseason of the Atlanta Falcons," remembers Thompson, "and he said, 'I want you to look at this quarterback. His jersey number's 4. He'll probably just play in the second half. And tell me what you think.'

"So I'm flipping through, and I had not been involved in football for several years, so I knew his name was Brett Favre, but I didn't really understand that he had been the first or second player taken in the second round (in 1991), which is a valuable draft pick. I'm just looking at him and Brett is Brett, but even more Brett. He's running all over and making great throws, and then the ball gets batted and he catches it and is running around.

"So I go back and he says, 'What do you think?' And I said, 'He looks like a guy that's a little bit raw but has a tremendous arm and great athleticism and a passion and all that.' He goes, 'Well, I'm going to give up a first-round pick for him. Do you think that's a good idea?'

"And I said, 'Well, do you think it's a pretty good idea?' And he goes, 'Yeah, I do.' And then I said, 'Then I do, too.'"

I wonder what might have been if Thompson did not think it was a good idea? Big Grin

He also said he understood that the Packers had to move on after he announced his retirement. Yet, he insisted he should come back as the #1 QB. When he was told that was not an option, he asked to be released. He trashed the Packer organization on national TV over private conversations he had with Packer management. He's under contract, but insisted on a trade to a team of HIS choosing.

Brett Favre is arguably the "best living QB" who had a stellar career at GB. However, his handling of the situation has been less than stellar, IMO.

According to MM,in his hours long talks with Brett he never got the impression Brett really was 100% committed to playing football for the Packers,he talked about his grievances and purported lies told by the team instead of how bad he wanted to play qb for the Packers,he never hit fourth gear in his desire but stayed in second, and that wasnt good enough for MM so look for him in Tampa Bay. hmm1

Maybe newbies should be locked out from posting for one week after initializing their accounts, forcing them to merge into the ongoing converstations a little slower.

I think the way it will workout is Brohm will get alot of playing time being thrown to the wolves when Rodgers gets injured. Then a year from now we will be saying it was good Brohm has experience under his belt.

For this year though, I have almost no enthusiasm. I think theres going to be a ton of heat on TT. McCarthy isn't going to look so smart without a hof qb. Fans are divided.

You can always go and get all greased up cheering for the Tampa Bay Favres
