Pluses:

Tramon Williams was O.K. replacing Harris.
Rouse did pretty good replacing Bigby.
Defense was pretty good overall, all things considered.
T.O. being rendered a non-entity.

Minuses:

O Line was weak.
Grant is obviously still hampered by the hamstring, and the fumble early.
Drops by the receivers.

Minuses:

We got too pass happy early on. We needed to try and run the ball more.

Yeah, I loved his heads-up play running out of bounds to stop the clock (Doh!It was 4th down! Big Grin) Seriously, he really improved from game 1.

The Cowboys are simply a better team. I thought the defense was more competitive than a year ago, but they still gave up 200 yards rushing and about 450 yards overall. Offensively, you can't kick field goals and expect to stay in the game. Oh well, they need to lick their wounds and get ready for Tampa.

Exactly. At the end of the 1st quarter, beginning of the 2nd quarter, (not counting the fumbled snap) 11 out of 12 plays were passes. It wasn't like every running play was getting stuffed either. It's time for McCarthy to put his money where his mouth is and stick with the running game a little more.

Negatives: (1) Coaching staff with totally unbalanced play calling in the first half (5 consecutive runs, then 5 consecutive passes) totally zero balance and d/n give Arod a chance to get in a groove, (2) Tramon Williams totally fanning on the long TD on 3rd and 20 (play of the game to keep the Pack in the game), (3) Where are the passes to TE? Of course they were in to max-protect a lot, (4) arm tackling and thus missed tackles of Marion Barber in the first half to give him steam in the 2nd Half.

Positives: (1) Jerry Kramer and the other blue-hair legends are still alive, (2) Did the Pack at least not have double-digit penalties this week, (3) Next week is another game!

The only plus of this game was that it occured in the 3rd week of the regular season and not the 1st week of the playoffs. Packers got whipped in every department.

I would really like to see McCarthy break tendencies with his offensive sets. Basically you know if it's run or pass by the personnel grouping that's out there. And defensively Sanders has to bring more pressure earlier in the game when you aren't generating enough of a pass-rush within the first couple of series. I hate it when they say, "the defense ran out of gas because the offense wasn't on the field enough." That's crap. Defenses run out of gas because they don't get their own rear-ends off the field with 3 and outs. Dallas ran nearly 40 plays in the first half alone because the defense laid back and gave up too many 1st downs. That's why they ran out of gas late in the game.

another plus, if the packers can win next week they'll likely have a 2 game lead in the division after 4 games - philly will beat chicago and tennessee will beat the vikes.

Sanders FINALLY decided to give safety help against a premier wide receiver. That was a positive. Other than that, he put together his usual unimaginative game plan. IMO, the Packers will never be able to handle the Dallas offense as long as Sanders is running the D. BTW, I'm in no way blaming the D for this particular loss, but I think the offense has a chance to be a lot better if we see the Cowboys again in January. I don't feel the same way about the defense.

I agree. We had a good game plan. We shut down TO and Whitten. Cowboys controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. MM didn't have confidence in his line (5 sacks) to get aggressive on play calls. If TOG was playing he'd have probably gotten an extra offensive TD, but given up two on turnovers.

Rodgers didn't look bad. Woodson played well. Harris would have made a difference. Cowboys Offense is well coached. THey attacked the weakness with Harris and Collins out and that was the difference.

Positives:

Cullen Jenkins
Greg Jennings
AJ Hawk
Brandon Chillar
Charles Woodson
Jordy Nelson
No picks thrown by Rodgers
Crosby good on FG's, PAT and very good on KO

Negatives:

Tony Moll Sucks
O-line gave Rodgers little time
Run D not stout enough
McCarthy's play-calling seamed predictable
Not enough pass rush...amazing how Dallas can protect so long with stellar technique

That's true but you can also keep Romo/Witten/Barber/TO off the field by controlling time of possession. You also maintain offensive tempo and get into a rhythmn.

+ This overrated group of young, up and coming talent got a reality check.
Rodgers played pretty well considering his Oline gave him nothing to work with. He's going to be a good one.
Crosby is money.

- the Packers are once again Dallas' bitch, and will be for the forseeable future, unless we pay for some upgrades.
Ryan Grant - get to camp ON TIME
Offense and defensive lines are pretty average groups collectively

From what I saw, Nick Collins was solid. Aaron Rouse was spotty.

Biggest problem is the lack of a running game. Defense was gassed by midway through the second quarter, and the offense couldn't sustain anything. Fixing the running game will solve a lot of problems.

In MMs post-game presser, he said that Al Harris was not only suffering from cramps but was found to have blood in his urine.

Whoa. Anybody smart out there who could venture a guess as to what that means?
