He sounds like he has the spot as 3rd CB .... MM comments: “Tramon has had a very good off-season,” Packer coach Mike McCarthy said. “Really, the first week of practice, he has been outstanding, particularly in the slot in the nickel and also on the outside. “He’s a lot stronger. He’s doing a lot better job in his bump technique, as far as the releases. He’s had three or four (plays) that I can think of where he basically buried the receiver at the line of scrimmage. He’s definitely had another very good off-season. I would say he was one of our most improved players last year.” |

Excellent. After watching Bush get beaten like a damn drum last year I'm excited to see if he delivers some consistency. Have to temper the expectations until the real bullets start flying.

At some point last year, many of us here were throwing out some archair GM trade ideas. I recall adding Tramon on into some deal much like a "player to be named later" because there was so little to know about him at that time. Would be nice to see him and the rook develop into solid depth until the starting CB torch gets passed.

I love how many key contributors over the years have been low round picks or undrafted free agents. Hope the Pack uses that as a selling point when they're pitching these guys after the draft, that will actually get an opportunity to build an NFL career at this club, which doesn't make foolish emotional investments in drafted players if some unknown is outperforming someone else.
As I recall, Williams coming out of high school was not highly recruited, but he worked his way into a starting job. Maybe HE'LL be the guy to replace Harris or Woodson some day and get the payoff of an NFL starters contract... |

Yup, one of TT's best attributes is that he judges a player on how he performs, not on where he was drafted. But, then again, Sherman the fox kept other teams from stealing Sander by keeping two punters on the roster. No sense on wasting a roster spot on an undrafted free agent when you have a third rounder to protect.

He isn't nailing anything down, ..... yet. He's got a good head start, but the decision won't be made until TC. I hope Blackmon and Lee both give him a serious challenge, and make it a difficult decision for the coaching staff. Blackmon is such a gifted and talented athlete, I hope this season isn't ruined by injuries like the last 2 have been.

Like those world-beaters Harrell and Jackson last year? Gee, hold on to a young guy for a year or two to see if he pans out, I'm glad TT doesn't fall for that nonsense. If Patrick Lee isn't the nickle this year, he should be dumped immediately. As MNPackman said, he hasn't nailed anything down yet. He has a solid head start probably, but the pads aren't even on yet. |

from JSOnline.com blog of the OTA's... The Tramon Williams love fest continues...
If I had to pick one player that really stood out during the OTAs, I would have to go with CB Tramon Williams. Everytime a ball was thrown to his guy, he was there like Velcro on him, usually making a play on the ball. Talked to him about it a little bit after practice. Williams said he was never a big believer in experience playing much of a role. He is now. He said he feels so much more confident and is physically more mature that it's carrying over into his play. There's really no doubting it. He's had a great camp so far and has to be looked at as the favorite at the nickel spot going into training camp. |

It became pretty obvious last year that the kid has solid CB skills. He showed he was way better in coverage than Bush and even Blackmon when he was on the field. Nice qucks shown of several nice returns too !!!
Nice to hear he is working his butt off to take it to the next level. 320lb bench for a smurf !!! Wow things have changed in the sport of football. |

In the few practices I watched last summer, Williams was far more impressive than either Bush or Blackmon. I was actually surprised that he didn't begin the season as the nickel back.
