People seem to forget that Rodgers may be the best quarterback chosen in 2005. He's a first round quarterback, highly regarded, who's getting a chance now to show why he was chosen. First rounders are leaders, or should be. They shouldn't _want_ to sit on the bench, kindly. They want to start. Rodgers has been preparing for three years now--he's ready. Thompson and McCarthy understand what they're doing. If they felt Rodgers would be a disaster, there's no way they would be standing so firm in not allowing Favre back.

No way in hell I would want Rodgers to step down if that were the case...that is not the type of guy I would want running the team.

The Packers already had a quitter play QB for them.

Get on board or shut up.

And, oh yeah, what who said. Though I still think Brett's overall a good guy, and a heck of a football player, the way he's acting now is kind of like an old boyfriend who breaks your heart, says he's leaving, comes back, tells you he's gone for good, then when you finally deal with the painful idea of him being gone, get over him, gradually get used to the idea of being with someone else and find a new boyfriend and start a new life, suddenly shows up on your doorstep at 2AM one night a few months later and expects you to be thrilled that the wonder boy you loved so much came back. I think he got to a point where he was believing Bus/Scott/his own hagiography in the press a bit too much and floor caved in below him.

I can hardly wait to see how many people in here will be wishing Favre was the QB for the Packers about six weeks from now.

Because Rodgers is going to have to take some lumps? Only whiny bandwagoners start bitching when they don't get their way. You're as spoiled as your idol.

I wish Favre had just stayed retired, went hunting, fishing, played golf, cut wood, rode his tractor, devoted time to his foundation, traveled, coached Oak Grove High School football, meditated, wrote a book, anything...

I can deal with the ups and downs of a new era in Packer football, but the last five months have been a total mess for everyone.

Uh...I'm no bandwagoner. I've probably been a fan for much longer than you have. It's the only team I have ever liked. I'll just wait until 3-4 games into the season and see what everyone thinks about TT's decision.

Is it more important for you to feel vindicated, or for the team to do well?

I'll save you the wait. TT built a solid foundation and is looking to the future with a talented QB. One more year of idol worship for you is not worth derailing the future to me.

And you probably have been a "fan" longer because you're older but you sure haven't grasped the concept very well.

Its realism though. I have no enthusiasm for this season because I think Rodgers is overrated and he doesen't have the type of makeup that makes it easy to rally around him.

I also think much of the season will be played by a backup, either a rookie or a washed up scrub like Pennington.

Plus having to watch Favre in a Bucs or Jets jersey.

I guess I will mostly focused on the development of young players. That is where I will have to find my enthusiasm.

I've heard Rodgers doesn't poll well with the white supremacist/survivalist crowd.

Get that directly from his teammates, did ya?

Sorry, Henry.

Its that soft west coast thing I speak about. A mixture of metrosexual and prickish surfer dude that is hard to buy into. I think that was part of the undoing of Harrington.

Not sure why I'm bothering but Harrington always came across as an ultra irritating, high-energy, dweeb. Aaron Rodgers? Not so much.

Oh I definitely want the team to do well. I'm a fan of the team, not just Favre. I will be rooting for Rodgers and the team to go all the way. I just don't like the way Favre was handled by TT and to some extent MM.

Not sure what "concept" you are talking about. I agree TT has done a good job in the GM position, except for the way Favre has been handled. I pretty much have seen that TT doesn't want Favre around. I put very little blame on Favre in this whole mess. I know I'm in the minority on here with that opinion but that's what I see.

I really hope Rodgers can do the job and he's as good as some people seem to think. I'm still very much behind the team.
