Enjoy the contest, enter early and often, just remember that this contest is about 1 thing - getting a solid up to date marketing database for an investment of about $1000 in prizes.

Your names ,addresses , phone numbers and emails are no longer yours, you sold them for a 1 in a million chance at a ticket.

Good Luck, but don't gripe about the telemarketers, junk mail and spam that will ensue.

Nope....I always give out my work phone number, (which is an automated switchboard recording). We recycle or shred junk mail (depending on what it is). I have a secondary e-mail that I use for stuff like this.

No harm, no foul......BTW thanks for not entering. Thumbs Up

I also entered the essay contest:

This country truly is Packer Nation, and I'm a perfect example: a lifelong Packer fan not currently living in Wisconsin but still just as passionate about the Green and Gold.

I'm a Manitowoc native who lived in Milwaukee, Delavan and other cities while growing up. I became a Packer fanatic back in 1965 at the age of 9. Living only 30 miles south of Green Bay, my brother and I hung around outside the stadium to get autographs from players like Bart Starr and Willie Davis. Ironically I never was able to get the great Vince Lombardi to sign. I remember his response ("After practice, boys!") barked out as if I were one of his players. My Uncle Tom Daley took me to my first game at Lambeau Field in 1967, when the Packers played the Steelers in a meaningless game after clinching the playoff spot, back when Lambeau was a simple bowl without the luxury boxes. What a thrill to actually see a regular season game live.

I graduated from UW-Eau Claire and moved out to California in 1980, but have always kept up my passion for the Pack. In 1996 I took my California native wife to her first game at Lambeau Field, an exhibition game against the New England Patriots (coincidentally, our Super Bowl opponent that year). A few years later I flew into Pittsburgh to meet my brother to see a Monday Night Football game against the Steelers. We come back every summer to visit family and I've taken my kids to see Packer practices, where they got their footballs autographed by KGB and Ahman Green. When the Packers played the Broncos in the Super Bowl in San Diego I stood outside the stadium with $900 cash in my pocket trying to buy a ticket, but unfortunately the cheapest ticket I could find sold for $1,500. And of course I bought a share of Packer stock, which hangs proudly on my classroom wall.

I've stuck with the Packers through thick and thin, win or lose. I'm a high school teacher and my room is decorated with Packer memoribilia. I have a lifesize Brett Favre poster on the wall that a student gave me. On the Monday after every Packer win I wear an old Packers tie. In less successful years I have to take a lot of razzing, but suddenly this year the school is full of Packer fans.

I'm not one of those frontrunners. I bleed green and gold, and will till I die. There is no other team worth rooting for, no other team owned by the greatest fans in the world, no other team that plays its home games on a field where the legends of the game once walked the sidelines. No other team with Brett Favre, a John Wayne-like figure who ranks with Hutson, Nitschke, Starr and Lombardi as a giant of the gridiron.

I'd be honored to be Honorary G-Force Captain for the Pack!

Thanks for posting this Tim. I entered the essay contest with a modified version (had to get it down to 500 words) of the article I wrote for TimesFour PackerNews earlier in the season...

"If you have ever been to historic Lambeau Field to watch the twelve-time NFL Champion Packers, you probably were at some point swept up in an old-fashioned ‘wave’ as it wound around the stadium. Lambeau Field is known for those; just ask John Madden, who always mentions it when he broadcasts a game in Green Bay. You also no doubt risked long-term vocal cord damage by shouting “GO PACK GO” at the top of your lungs along with the other 72,927 fans screaming around you. This little jingle can likely be traced back to 1931 when the Packer’s fight song, written by Eric Karll, was first played by the Lumberjack Band. And if you were lucky, you witnessed a Lambeau Leap, which of course was invented at Lambeau Field by LeRoy Butler in 1993 who, after scoring a defensive touchdown, jumped into the stands to celebrate with fans. This newer tradition has been copied by teams throughout the league because of its ability to create synergy between the players and fans.

But surely these experiences left you feeling empty inside, left you craving something more. Not to fear, G-Force is here! This new in-stadium program will, according to packers.com, “emphasize the electric gameday atmosphere the fans provide for the players.” Craig Benzel, Packers director of marketing and corporate sales, is quoted as saying, “We’re excited to provide the best fans in the NFL with a new gameday element they can rally behind. While other teams around the league have supportive fans and use names such as ‘the 12th Man,’ we believe no other fans have the passion or dedication of Packer fans at Lambeau Field. That’s what G-Force is.”

Give me a break. Other teams may need marketing tricks to generate interest every season, but not the Packers. Green Bay has the most successful franchise in the league and the fans own the team; literally. How can you get a closer relationship between players and fans? You can’t. What else would be more inspirational to rally around? Nothing. Watching the Green and Gold at Lambeau Field is an adrenaline rush, a natural reaction to the storied past and the future yet to come. No marketing gimmick is going to enhance that feeling.

When the announcer gets on the microphone at the beginning of the game and grunts, “We are G-Force!” to energize the crowd, the fans just look around quizzically at each other. Packer fans are their own kind of fan…proud, passionate, dedicated, and, admittedly, cheesy to the last. But this is pure Wisconsin cheese we are talking about, no artificial ingredients. Can you imagine the Packer “Pope,” trading in his Lombardi miter for a G-Force hat? Ridiculous.

No, you cannot force genuine fan excitement, it just happens. Unfortunately, G-Force casts a pall over the Lambeau Field faithful. Drop it and let the ghosts of Curly and Lombardi work their magic."
