I apologize in advance if this has already been posted.

He feels like new:
quote:
"I'm probably 110 percent now," Hodge said. "I feel like a new man."

I hope he does have an impact.

Desmond Bishop was looking pretty tough, imo.

Hodge was extremely limited in the speed department before the injury. I'm sure he has even less now. I doubt he makes the team.

Desmond Bishop...He's tough but slow. Both Hodge and Bishop make former Packer MLB Bernardo Harris seem like a young Derrick Brooks.

Damn. I make Bernardo Harris look like Derrick Brooks---but it's mostly because of the kids out of wedlock.

Bishop's value isn't necessarily in playing LB; it's special teams. When you get to backup type roles you need to be able to perform on ST's and to that extent I think Bishop played pretty well last year.

Hodge needs to be able to show he can do that even though it's obvious in the past he has ability to play some LB. He's still one of the best run stopping LB's I've seen play Big Ten football over the years, and if you think about all of the good linebackers that have played in the BT that is fairly high praise. I also think the speed concerns are a little overrated. People talk about Derrick Brooks but he isn't going to beat anyone in a 40 yard dash- including 80% of the posters on this site. Brooks was fast in short bursts and that's what made him so effective.

HUH? Besides Henry, who on this board can beat Brooks and his 4.6 40 time.

Champ er CoP...please...Bernardo Harris was slower than your mom but she still delivered. Bishop is a better prospect than Barnyardo so go do your work at the Strib and shut up.

ROFL2

And that was on a cloudy day with winds mounting out of the west at 10-15 mph.

Dude, is that Sam from iCarly?

I had high hopes for Hodge but have been disappointed.

But facing Adrian Peterson twice a year, it sure won't hurt to have more run stopping LBs in the mix.

You think Bernardo "delivered"? He was a weak link. I'd take Strickland or Koonce over this guy.

http://www.railbirdcentral.com/2008/06/logjam-at-middle-linebacker.html

Says Hodge, Bishop and UDFA Lansanah impressing the coaches.

Says Hodge's knees are in top condition.

Says Bishop may move outside.

Says Lansanah looks like the gem of their UDFA crop.

Says all three must beat out the likes of Tracy White on STs to earn a spot.

Figuring Barnett and Hawk are the only locks here, there's going to be some nice battles at LB - more than we expected a month ago.

My bold and premature prediction is Brady Pop and Tracy White get cut.

From 16-game starter for one of the league's top defenses to not even one of our top 6 players at the position? Wow.

Another bold and premature prediction: Brett Favre is no longer with the team this season.

Seems that way, doesn't it?

I know that optimism runs high this time of year, but this looks like the most talented team we've had in 35 years. Even in the mid-90s, when we had great starters, it didn't seem that we had much depth behind them.

Oh, and there's no way in hell Poppinga gets cut. Traded maybe... but I hope not. I love the guy (in a completely manly, non-homosexual way)(not that there's anything wrong with that)...

This team is DEEEEP! What it lacks are Super Star quality players, but I see some possibilities in that as well. No way Popp gets cut. He really came on late last year, exactly what you want from a "young" player.

You guys are right. I forgot how Brady turned it on late in the year. I always liked his attitude, just thought he lacked ability. He also was coming off a bad knee injury that takes time to get back to 100%. Hopefully he was beginning to hit his stride at season's end. I love the way TT consistently creates competition to raise the playing level of everyone.
