Second-highest paid WR, eh? Isn't Fitz the highest at $10M/year? That'd put the range between $8-9M per. Big move. Big trade-up for CMIII and now mega-bucks at Jennings after shelling out bucks for Capers/Trgovac.

Is TT going for it?

Jennings Gets New Deal

Sources close to negotiations tell FOX 6 Milwaukee that the Packers and wide reciever, Greg Jennings, have agreed to a new contract. Terms have not been disclosed, but the new deal is thought to make Jennings the second highest-paid Wideout in all of The NFL.

2nd highest?? In annual salary or in bonus? both?

If true, sounds like the Packers are going to pay him more then 15 mil guarenteed. Eeker

I don't care what they payed him ... glad to have him inked. He's a proven playmaker, has youth on his side, and is also a class act. That's the kind of player you want to keep around.

Who was the bozo that said he'd be hitting the road in free agency because his wife doesn't like GB? Money talks !!

Further proof that Ted isn't a tightwad.

Glad to have Jennings signed.

Super. We need to have a stud receiver on the bubble to pair with a QB not nearly as good as Payton Manning.

Alert over*

This super news. Hopefully Collins gets his schtick together and we can find out how much he wants to play for GB next year or just let him walk and take the 3rd round pick.

Saw the report on Fox 6. Basically repeated the internet story, and definitely stressed the fact that they believe he is going to be the second highest paid WR behind Fitzgerald. Other than that, a very short piece.

Jen Lada from Fox 6 just confirming that yes Jennings signed his deal early this morning and it will make him the 2nd highest WR in the NFL behind Fitzgerald. Appears she was talking annual salary vs. bonus.

If Fitzgerald is at 10-10.5 a year, Bryant is at 9.6 via franchise tag, you'd have to think Jennings is in the 9.5-10 mil a year category.

Now we'll get to see how this will sit with Collins.

So much for tightwad teddy...

For the record I don't care how this sits w/ Collins.

What a cinderella story...

From barely making the squad to the second highest paid NFL wideout.

To be fair, Vic just shared some info that he heard in his dealings with Greg and Nicole. He isn't responsible for the outcome of the negotiations and probably doesn't earn "bozo" status just for sharing that info with the board.

Enjoy Jennings

I say "bozo" lovingly ... we all miss on our silly little predictions. I don't mean anything personally toward Vic. He swung and he missed ... happens to the best of us.

It was Vic, but no big deal, as Satori said.

Oh... fixed it for you as well. Credos.

Glad this got done. Probably was overpaid as of today, but in 3-4 years when Jennings is still putting up 1200 yds a season, this will be considered underpaid and he will threaten to hold out.

From the Pack/Lions game thread to end the season:

It's nothing personal with the staff or front office, he just wants to play in a bigger market. He's felt that way since day one. Nicole especially doesn't care for Green Bay.

He's already turned down an extension. Certainly the Packers can and will increase their offer and there is always an injury risk by waiting until you are a free agent. And of course he could be tagged.

The Packers are always good with taking care of their own and I'm sure they will make a fair, competitive offer. And Greg may very well take it. But don't be surprised if he doesn't.

To Vic's defense, he did admit for guarenteed millions, Jennings could change his mind. And from what the contract sounds like, he obviously did.

As the saying goes, money talks and horse walks.

Jennings gets to enter his elite years as an NFL player with a franchise QB in the same age category. And his fellow WR's are pretty damned talented to compliment him. Plus he as a young, up and coming defense.

Money aside, he's sitting pretty in more ways then one.

I wonder if this means that 2009 is the swan song in GB for Driver. That's a lot of money tied up in WR's, and if Jones/Jordy develop into good players, they'll need to get paid as well down the road. Not anywhere near what Jennings is apparently getting, but I'm wondering if this is one of the reasons DD wanted another raise.

Gotta say that TT took at least one lesson from a mistake Wolf admitted he made - he's not scrimping on the weapons he puts around his QB.

Also TT has shown he is good at drafting WRs. I think the only one that didn't work out was injured (hard to fault him for that).

Yep, Terrence Murphy. I remember when he got hurt people blamed TT for not knowing he had the neck problem.

There is a less than 10% chance I'll be happy with the coin that TT had to spend on Jennings.

Where has my Tightwad Teddy gone?
