Packers were outplayed and outcoached today. The young Packer players and HC got overmatched on the O-Line, D-Line, S/Ts and on the sideline. Favre looked every bit the elder too.
I thought the game plan was shoddy at best. Players were unprepared. To see Packer players huddled around a heater in December is just about as unnatural as seeing a snowman in Miami. MM blew it and admitted as much in his post-game comments to WTMJ. Favre seemed uninspired. The WRs were catching the ball with their arms rather hands. The "d" played like preseason. And S/Ts were simply awful. Maybe this will be a BIG WAKE-UP CALL. |

I'm dissapointed in Favre today ... he did nothing out there today other than stink it up. He's the guy that has to get things going when things aren't going well, but his tendency to press ends up leading to some beatdowns.
It sometimes seems like the bigger the game the worse he will play. I can't remember the last time he played great in a game where there was a lot on the line. Losing a shot at home field advantage in a game against a big division rival qualifies as a big game. The Cowboy game earlier this year was a big game .. he no showed. What's going to happen in the playoffs? |

Maybe we ought to hope for a heat wave for the first playoff game. Favre looked like a senior citizen who was dreaming of spending his winters in Florida and the young guys looked more concerned about staying warm than actually playing football. The entire team should be ashamed of itself. That said, 12-3 is still 12-3. And one game - no matter how bad - is still just one game. Hopefully, the entire team will learn from today and never let it happen again.

Favre has looked old ever since he hurt is funny bone in Dallas.
Give the Bears credit, they won their Super Bowl. But as long as the fixate on the Packers that will be all they will be doing. What bothered me the most was as the title of the thread says, showing their youth. The Packers today looked like a visiting team at Lambeau in December. To many huddling around the heat. Props to the Linebackers, Grant and Driver. |

Right, it's Favre's fault.
If he had played better on defense, we wouldn't have given up an 11 minute opening drive to a horrible offense....or only have 12 offensive plays in the first half. If Favre had played better on special teams, we wouldn't have had punts blocked, snaps dropped, etc. And if had played better at receiver when the game was still in hand, he wouldn't have dropped some passes over the middle (Lee, Jennings, etc). Always amused when we lose, and immediately the Favre haters show up and blame the game on him. Bottom line is that the Bears have a horrid offense, and never should have scored as many points as they did, nor held the ball as long as they did. Our defense's inability to control the game was the reason we lost, not the play of Favre. |

Jingle bells, batman smells, the Packers laid an egg. They were due to dump one. Let's hope it's out of their system.

The entire team acted more like a bunch of school girls more worried about getting a cold draft up their skirts than they were about winning a football game. Pathetic display by a supposed "cold weather" team.
This team will be better off playing in Dallas than they will be playing in Lambeau in January. This team couldn't get off the field fast enough at half time. |

You can criticize him for this game but in Dallas, the pass rushers were in his face the entire time he was in there. And then he got hurt by those pass rushers. The pass protection was ano-show in that game. |

Tough loss, and yes the team is young. Hopefully MM will learn from, but it's clear the Packers aren't any better in cold/bad weather than any other team. Let's hope for good weather in the divisional PO game 'cause the Packers pass to set up the run rather run to set up the pass. I don't feel so bad about going to Dallas (if they can get there that is).

They stunk it up acrossed the board today, but I though the key sequence was when the got the ball back up 7-6 after Grant had his long run and they threw three passes and Ryan got off a 7 yard punt. The Bears get the ball back and march 60 yards in about 50 seconds against our D. That was the game in a nutshell: horrid Special Teams, Inability of the D to get stops, and very questionable playcalling.

I thought was the key as well ... they needed a good drive at that spot, but instead had to punt it back to the Bears. The defense then proceeded to let the Bears march right down the field. I my earlier post I wasn't blaming the loss solely on Favre .. just saying he's a big spark to the team, and when he can't get it going the team usually goes nowhere. His tendency to press usually seems contagious to the rest of the team, and we usually wind up blown out. I think defense and special teams were probably the main culprits today, but the offense was never really able to make anything happen. It was a team loss ... all phases were awful. |

When every aspect of team's performance stinks, it's gotta be pinned on the coach. MM's done a great job overall, but he needs to own this performance today, as IMHO it's on him and the staff. The team wasn't ready, and they got humiliated by a less talented team. No other way to look at it, IMHO.

I think they might have tanked it and I'm not sure that is a bad thing.
Not much different than LY when the Packers went down to Soldier field and took it to the Bears. |

Actually there is a BIG difference. Last year Chicago had home field locked up and the game literally meant nothing to them. This year the Packers were still in the running for home field and played completely uninspired football. |

I'm not here to argue but I think they can go back to Dallas and have a better chance of beating the Cowboys than they do in Green Bay in January.
Let's hope we find out and let's hope I'm right. |

But let's think about this- the teams at the top of the NFC- what do all of them do better? They pass. Dallas passes. Green Bay passes. Seattle passes. Tampa passes (to a lesser extent).
What do the teams that are in the WC do best? Run. Jacobs runs, Peterson runs. Cold isn't the issue- the wind is. |

I give the Bears no credit. They are a lucky, opportunistic team that is about has boring as any team in the league. There fans are the pits too. I have received more nasty e-mails from bears fans, many of them are relatives, rubbing it it. Well, good for them. Because they lost the SB last year, and this year they aren't even a .500 team. LAST PLACE IN THE DIVISION. |

Wherever the blame may be, players, coaches, Bears, weather, whatever, the bottom line is the Packers were getting beat up. They looked like sissies. Favre's presser was telling. He straight out said he was mentally not in it because of the cold. He was beat before he even stepped on the field. That is scary to hear from the Ironman.
I hope I never see another game like this. It was a butt-kicking through and through. They should be embarrassed. |

It's not like Favre and Ryan are rookies out there and those two guys in particular played like garbage.
BTW, this team isn't built to be a cold weather team |

Man, how I long for the years past when the Packers were considered one of, if not the, best cold-weather/bad weather team. It seems since the loss to Jacksonville in '04 (when Turd got clothes-lined) that is no longer the case.

Hey, in no way am I blaming this debacle on Brett Favre. It was a complete team failure. Beginning with the HC, players and on down to S/Ts and even further beyond that.
It was reported that shortly prior to the game Favre remarked it was the worst conditions he had ever played in. So, I agree that he probably did let the weather/wind get into his head. MM blew it several times by calling some ill-timed plays. As mentioned before, the 3 straight pass plays after the Packers go up 7 to 6 and then give the Bears lee-way down the field to score before half-time. But after all of this, I think they still can put it together for the season finale and then in the play-offs. But, it begins with two people. MM and Favre. The "D" is important. But Favre makes the entire team "tick". My guess is that MM will hold the majority of practices outside. Something he seemed unwanting to do before this disgraceful loss today. |

Timmy..
The clothes-line happened in a pre-season game I happened to be in attendance at in Jax. Next theory! Actually Atlanta beating us in the play-offs at Lambert started the slide and Jax did beat us at home 2 years ago to seal the cold-weather deal. |

Yeah, on the first block you could see Ryan was more worried about the wind than simply catching the ball and kicking it passed the LOS. |
