Grant has been a nice addition to the team and you'd hope they can keep him around for a while. While I wouldn't break the bank for him I would have no issue extending him to a modest contract similar to what they did with Ahman Green back in 2000 or 2001.
I also think Brandon Jackson is going to be a lot better this year because he's had time to absorb the playbook and improve on his blocking. He's been getting rave reviews from the coaches so far this offseason so it'll be interesting to see what he can do. Then there is Wynn who is basically a RB version of C Hunt or James Lee |

"It was a committee without a chairman. Jackson was a rookie. Morency was a role player. Wynn was an overachiever. Grant had an interesting body for a back, but he didn't have the benefit of a Packers training camp because he was still with the Giants at the time."

That is funny. His being an underachiever is what got him drafted in the late rounds. Sometimes I wonder if these guys ever do their homework. |

I read Packers articles from the national press for the amusement of it all. Really, unless I know very little about the subject matter reading news articles from the national sports media continues to disappoint. |

Is Clayton still reporting that Jim Bates will be the next head coach of the Packers? Clueless.

I guess I don't understand him being described this way. It's not just you, I've seen him described this way by others. He came in last year, as a rookie and did pretty well. He got hurt and was put on IR. Now he's come in this offseason and worked hard. He's drawn praise from McCarthy and Bennett. Bennett just said he needs to show more consistency...just like every other rookie! We all assume he can do so much more than he is but maybe he isn't. Maybe he IS doing what he's capable of. If plays like crap this season then maybe he's entering James Lee range but he's not Clete Hunt. I would say he overachieved for a 7th round pick. I'm not going to rip the guy if he's doing what he's supposed to do. |

929 yards and 8 TDs in 9 games. Extrapolating, that's 1652 yards and 14 TDs for an entire season.
I think Ahman Green only bettered those numbers once. |

Wynn is a lazy POS who wasn't very tough. Yeah, there's a combination of great qualities you'd like to see out of one of your running backs.
He's the textbook definition of an "upside" guy- lots of physical abilities and talent but not much between the ears and a work ethic that leaves a lot to be desired. Yippee skippy! |

How can you call him lazy POS when McCarthy and Bennett bothed praised him for working hard in the offseason? If he was lazy, wouldn't he be doing the opposite of working hard? People can change man. He was a lazy dope at Florida but that doesn't mean he still is...it kind of sounds like he's starting to get his crap together.
I don't get where you call him soft or not tough either? He had some tough runs last year. He ran tougher than Jackson did most of the season and I don't hear you calling him soft? He got injured and had to go on IR....just like Johnny Jolly. Doesn't mean he's soft, it means he got hurt. I'm sure he's not very bright...have you watched those lockerroom interviews? He's not the only one on this team that doesn't sound like a genius! |

What do you call a guy that was put on the IR because he was not durable? China doll or a wuss or a candy ass or Sissy?

Do you call Johnny Jolly that? He was knicked up a good bit. Chad Clifton is constantly knicked up and has ended up on IR...I don't consider him a wuss. Charles Woodson is injured a lot and has been on IR before, he's not soft. Guys get injured all the time. Lots of guys get little injuries throughout a season and some end up on IR. You all make it sound like Wynn is some isolated incident where he completely wussed out....he ran hard until he got hurt. Look I'm not the guy's biggest fan. I didn't think he was much at FloriDUH and I'm not optimistic he'll be anything special in the NFL but to say he's "soft" or "a lazy POS" is completely dumb in my opinion. Give the guy a freakin chance before you label him a POS is all I'm saying. |

I still like the sound of Win With Wynn Albeit, I give him a 50-50 shot to be something provided he actually, really truly matured and is taking it very seriously now. If not he's toast, kicked to the curb and bagging at the local grocery store soon. |

Living in Gator area, after he was drafted by the Packers I had heard from a number of friends who are Gator fans that Wynn was a heartbreaker. All the talent in the world but never completely tapping that talent. Couldn't grab and hold the starting RB position for the Gators. Basically, being an underachiever because the consensus was that he had Draft Day 1 talent. In fact, one friend was swearing up and down all during our training camp last year that if we could keep him on the field and motivated, he'd be special (the best back in our group) but he wasn't surprised when Wynn was shut down part way through the season. You're right in not alot invested in him by the Packers. My take is based on what I've heard up through his college days. And I started buying into what they were saying when Wynn spent most of last training camp in the tub (what did Fritz say about that). I really hope he's grown up and the light goes on. |

What I found interesting from the article is that MM thinks the pass-run mix will always favor the pass percentage wise. That said, it is also clear he wants an effective running game for balance.
At the bottom of the article it says Wynn is gaining momentum - whatever that means. So he might be making strides. I think Herron is toast in any event. |

What I find interesting is there are people who think both Grant and Jackson will be studs this year, and that Wynn might also be pretty good. When really, if Grant is a stud, Jackson will essentially be Tony Fisher and Wynn will barely get on the field.

A guy who was put on IR because he got injured? Well, how horrible! That makes him lazy all right! Just like Robert Brooks was when he blew out his knee or Edgar Bennett when he tore his Achilles. No, sir! Can't have any injured people on IR. They're all lazy. |

Are you actually suggesting that we shouldn't immediately trade whatever linebacker, Poppinga or Chillar, doesn't win the starting job, as well as whoever loses out in the bid to start at safety? That's kooky talk. Anyway, I agree with you - my point is that if either Jackson or Wynn makes a major impact this season, it will probably be because Grant gets injured early -- and thus ends up not being the stud he was down the stretch. Merely having one guy be a star this season would be great. Plus, remember: If Grant gets hurt, it's because he was a money-grubber who skipped OTAs and was more susceptible to injury. If Jackson gets hurt, it's because he showed he was injury prone in college and should never have been drafted. And if Wynn gets hurt, it's because he's a lazy POS. |
