I was watching 3 games from last season.

Packers @ Minnesota
Packers @ 49'ers
Packers @ Bears

The Packer players keep saying the 8-1 start isn't surprising to them and after watching these 3 games from last season, you can see why.

The Packers were seeing an awful lot of cover 2 in those 3 games just like this season. The difference is, this year they have the personnel to exploit it. Donald Lee has vastly improved this season. The coaching staff has found ways to lineup WR's against LB'ers & Favre will take that matchup every time and win.

Man, Ahman Green was really a very physical runner. Ryan Grant runs hard but Ahman was punishing.

Donald Driver, just before halftime, hits the seam and takes off leaving Darren Sharper in his wake for a 82 yd TD. I rewatched this play probably 10 times it was so sweet.

Against the Niners, Ruvell Martin catches his 1st TD pass on a blown coverage. Thank god KGB isn't starting at DE anymore. Frank Gore broke his attempt at a tackle very easily although KGB was slightly held on the play.

The last game of 2006 vs. the Bears. I don't care what anybody says, the Bears did not want to lose this game. You can see it from the opening kickoff. Sexy Wrecksy is back & throws 2 INT's for pick 6's in the first half. The Packer offense does ok but not great. The red zone offense is really bad. It has improved somewhat this season but it's not good enough yet. A terrible snap by the center hits himself with the ball while Favre is in the shotgun. Favre recovers and fires it OOB but Favre is pissed & lets Wells know it. Donald Lee doesn't run a crisp route and then drops a pass from Favre and Favre says something to him about it.

Favre's interview after the game was interesting. He's in tears. Everyone thinks he is retiring. Madden thinks he is retiring. Watching that interview then watching Favre play this season is interesting. It's potentially revealing.

I think Favre is retiring after this season. It's time. This is his swan song. He's going out on a high note. He's already put a fresh coat of bronze on his bust in Canton due to his fine play this season.

I don't know what is going to happen the rest of this season but I'll be surprised if Favre plays in 2008. I'm calling my shot right now. This is Favre's last season. Win, lose or draw.

Sentimental Hogwashhhhhhhhhhhhhhh .... - Henry F. Potter.

- No way Favre retires if this team is peaking and he is healthy at the end of the year ...

I agree with Trump. If the team continues to play at a high level, he'll tell TT and MM ONE MORE YEAR. Someone so competitive can't just walk away from a team that is moving in the right direction.

I do not think we'll see a Packer Superbowl victory this year, but I think that (or maybe a major injury) is the only way Favre retires after this year. This team is too close, and he's gone through too much crap to quit now.

If he does quit at least COP will be happy. Along with lots of Bears/Vikings fans.

Whenever the season ends, however the season ends, all the young players get in line at Favre's locker, they got one edge:

They know they dont have to beg.

He's stayin'

My thoughts are similar to Vincent Vega. Presuming the Pack falls just short of a SB appearance (or a victory in the SB), no way is Favre retiring after the season. Not when he's this close to another championship. This season's starting to feel like 1995. Breakout year, but falling just short of their goal.

Now, if the Pack DOES go all the way this year, it's a perfect time for Favre to retire. The season would truly be a magical year, and it wouldn't get much better than that. Thumbs Up

Sucker! There is about a 0% chance that Favre will retire after this year. Everyone keeps speculating, but they never look at the things that motivate Favre. Instead they look at the things that motivate other QBs like John Elway.

VV has it right. They will have to knock the guy out of the league. At the end of this yer he will think about it and come back anyway.

There is NO WAY Favre retires after this year!!

If anything, I hope he goes to TT and says, Look, I wanna commit 2-3 more years to this team. In that case, you trade Rodgers and draft another QB in this years draft. It's a deep draft for QB'S and Im sure we could find someone.

Favre will take THIS team to the Super Bowl whether its this year or in the near future!!!

STARTING?! Some of us were saying that at the beginning of the year.

As much as I love Favre, if the Packers win the Superbowl, I hope he retires.

... then some of you were a LOT MORE confident than I was. I thought "playoffs" were a good bet, but not being one the dominent teams in the NFC (& even the NFL).

Check out this guy, who says Favre will go till he breaks Jim Marshall's record, which would mean sometime in the 2009 season....

I agree. I'd like to see him go out on top and I think if they do win he will. Hard to say though, he may get all squirrely when he hoists that trophy.

I hope you are wrong. I don't give a damn about Brett's legacy. Much more concerned about Brett's desire to win as many games as possible and to have fun doing it.

I think that Brett wathcing Vinny today gave him some insight that he could play a few more years and be successfull. Could you imagine Brett playing at 44 yrs old. Vinny threw some nice passes today that even brett at 44 could probably throw better.

TT needs to use some that leftover cash and extend Brett until 2013. Big Grin
