And I can't believe that MM's credibility in the locker room isn't shot. Even the veterans who love Favre, have to wonder how a head coach can back one player for months and then change his mind when push came to shove.

Are you speaking from some facts or your opinion of what will happen?

How are Thompson and/or McCarthy puppets? They are following the rules of the league. Favre retired. Then he requested reinstatement. The commish grants him his request. The Packers then made their move. No puppet there... Confused

How has McCarthy changed his mind since March?

Didn't MM say over and over that there would be no QB competition, or am I dreaming all of that? Wasn't he asked that very question at his pre-training camp press conference, and didn't he emphatically state that there would be no competition and that Rodgers was the starting QB? Roll Eyes

Or maybe I'm just not that good at understanding doublespeak.

I don't recall McCarthy or Thompson ever saying there would be no competition. I do recall that they both emphatically stated that Rodgers was the starter. Many jumped to the spot that this meant there would be no competition. Unlike Favre, McCarthy and Thompson do not go on and on and on with their answers when asked a question. They just answer the question without hyperbole.

So, last night when asked, McCarthy answered:

Q: So Brett comes back with no promises of being able to compete for the job?
A: There have been no promises.

It is coming. The reality is Favre is hands-down a better QB than Rodgers.

So Seattle, Washington and the Giants weren't good opponents?
