Lots about Favre, but also lots about his thoughts from tonight. It doesn't souns like McCarthy is wavering much from his comments of the past few weeks. He'll speak with Favre tomorrow night, and then do another presser.

I have a lot of faith in MM. His job is to manage the team including their emotions.

His tone is a solid as it can be considering the circumstances.

Face it, Coaches and Managers earn their pay many times in managing egos. Parcels handled T.O. Joe Torre managed the personalities on the Yankees.

MM seems pretty level headed on this. I think Murphy knows what he's got in MM.
TT has been very low profile lately though, probably best that way.

I'll say this, MM was a lot more impressive in his pre-training camp presser than he was tonight.

So he's going to wait to talk to Favre before making a decision? Is he expecting Favre to say, "Truthfully Mike, I'm really not committed to playing this year. I just wanted to f**k with you guys. I'm going back to Hattiesburg."

No promises, I thought AR was the starting QB. MM. Indecision waffles. stinks of open competition. Or maybe a trade, or maybe Brett being cut, or maybe Brett feeling he needed an airplane ride to the great state of WI. for an ego stroke. You know WI. is a state outside of GB, media and all.

I took that as McCarthy questioning Brett's deicison making process, and commitment to the game. It does seem Favre wavers back and forth on things, and I'm not sure McCarthy sounded like a guy that trusts Favre all that much.

There'll be some hard-core vetting in that meating tomorrow night. A fly on the wall could probably write a book about it and make millions. There's a lot of air to be cleared, but the difference between yesterday and today is that Favre is all-in now. He's played his one chip, and now the team owns him. The only thing left for him to do besides quit would be to start causing problems, and he has to know how that'll play. Bummer that it comes down to poker analogies, but it is what it is.

Sounds like to me there will be no promises to any of the 4 QB'S in camp come 12:01 PM tomorrow. Such is life, Inluding The Day's Of Our Packers.

No, but he did mention that it's not a good idea to get into a land war in Asia.

But McCarthy and general manager Ted Thompson apparently determined it was best to change their minds on the open competition and welcome back a revered player who, though he's 38, is coming off a season in which he finished second in the voting for the NFL's most valuable player award.

Flynn looked good though.

I expect an official announcement about him being the starter shortly.

From the presser...
Q: So Brett comes back with no promises of being able to compete for the job?
A: There have been no promises.

The saddest part of all this is how ridiculous MM and TT now look. Even the people who disagreed with their decision to "move on" at least had to respect them for making and then sticking with what they believed in. Now they just look like puppets - either being controlled by Favre or the league.

And I can't believe that MM's credibility in the locker room isn't shot. Even the veterans who love Favre, have to wonder how a head coach can back one player for months and then change his mind when push came to shove.

Are you speaking from some facts or your opinion of what will happen?

How are Thompson and/or McCarthy puppets? They are following the rules of the league. Favre retired. Then he requested reinstatement. The commish grants him his request. The Packers then made their move. No puppet there... Confused

How has McCarthy changed his mind since March?
