I read somehwere that referred to "Rookie Ryan Grant."
If a player is on the practice squad but does not play in a game his first year but then plays his second, is he considered a rookie? |

He is not a rookie, but this is (I think) considered his first year for vesting purposes.

He is still considered a cherry though by the NFL regs, if not technically a rookie

Nope, once a guy goes through an NFL training camp, he can only be considered a rookie for that year. So a player who goes through a training camp in 2006 and sits on the practice squad that year, cannot be considered a rookie in any subsequent year. In 2007, then, if he makes an NFL roster, he's considered "first year", but not a rookie. |

Shoot, and here I thought Fergie had a shot to be rookie of the year this year.

I suggest Fergy go back to Texas A&M and start his football career over. MS should help him a lot. Then when he returns as a 2nd career rookie, he can be up for the nomination. |

He was on IR last season and I think that counts as his first year for vesting. |
