Raiders | A. Brandt expected to join organization
Mon, 9 Jun 2008 09:54:11 -0700

Chris Mortensen, of ESPN.com, reports the Oakland Raiders are expected to hire Andrew Brandt as a salary-cap manager. Brandt resigned from the Green Bay Packers as vice president of player finance in January after he lost a power struggle with the guy in charge.

An excellent move by the Raiders.......only if Al Davis quits spending money on rejects like Javon Walker.

It might be an excellent move by the Raiders if Al Davis butts out and lets Brandt do his job, but we've all seen how that works. I like Brandt though and hope he does well in Oakland.

Al had some good people from time to time, hasn't he? (Law of Averages?) Wasn't Ron Wolf with the Raiders before coming to Green Bay?

Raiders | Team not in process of hiring A. Brandt
Tue, 10 Jun 2008 08:06:59 -0700

Updating a previous item, Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports the Oakland Raiders are not in the process of hiring Andrew Brandt to help manage their salary cap, according to a team executive. According to the team executive, managing general partner Al Davis has never met Brandt and does not know him.

Or... it's possible Al has finally lost what little of his mind he had left.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Or perhaps there are some plots going on to try and get Al out of there. The poor guy has seriously lost his senses.

It's been some time since Brandt left the Packers. If these reports posted here are true, I'm a bit surprised he hasn't landed somewhere yet.

I heard Brandt speak at a Packer stockholder's meeting one time, and although he may be excellent with the purse, my gut feeling then was that he might not be ideal in handling personnel. I wasn't surprised when the Packers passed on Brandt as CEO.

I just don't get the love affair with Brandt, he was right there arm and arm with Shermy on the Joe Johnson signing, and was duped by Philly into giving KGB a truckload of cash as a part-time starter.

Other teams are not knocking on his door, even Minnesota won't even sign him as an ex-Packer, that should say something.

Thank goodness the Raiders got the Javon Walker deal done before Brandt showed up. Let's see how good a cap guy he is, when the cap is all spent.
