Satori... You should repost that into it's own thread...that's HUGE potential news. It'll be tit for tat with the Vikings and the mighty Jared Allen.

Goodbye Monty and Hunter.

It's about time we make some kind of big move. We need to make one every once in awhile... especially when you're on the verge like we are/were.

Hallelujah. I'm going to keel over if I hear NE got him for a 3rd rounder while TT decided a 4th was as low as he'd go.

Here's the link to the complete story...

At least Jason knows the defense in GB, but I doubt Hollywood Taylor wants to finish in the frozen tundra...

The Dolphins need an inside LB ( Hodge/Bishop) for the switch to a 3-4 and are very weak at CB and safety as well.

I'd be more excited about the possibility if Taylor was willing to play for more than one year.

I'll be THRILLED with one year. Who knows... He may fall in love with the place like Woodson. Miami doesn't have the best of fans.

As for not wanting to play in the cold...he played college ball at Akron.

That's the way I feel. If Taylor could committ to 2 or 3 years, then I'd make a play for him but I wouldn't burn a 3rd just to have him this season. I have a hunch this season will be Rodger's season to get comfortable in his role as the man and next year will be the big year. So if Taylor can guarantee he'll play for, like I said, 2 or 3 years then I'd make a play for him.

As far as Jenkins goes, I don't want the guy to be benched. My point is simply, IF Montgomery (or any of the other backups for that matter) improves his game to the point where he's just as good, then I'd slide Jenkins down. If he isn't, then leave Jenkins where he is.

Goodbye Monty and Hunter.

Even if a vet were signed I'm not sure these guys don't still make it. Hunter led the Packers in ST tackles by a wide margin - I wouldn't bet on him getting cut.

Monty has been kept around for some time now and the pressure is certainly on. Still, he's flashed a bit and as a younger pure DE has value for this team IMO...assuming he can stay on the field.

Let's not forget they kept 11 DL last year either.

Like many people I'd take JTaylor if the price is right. However, TT has repeatedly gone with youth so it'd definitely be a novel move.

Report: Packers inquire about Taylor

By Tim Graham | Wednesday, June 18, 2008, 09:14 PM

The Green Bay Post-Gazette is reporting the Packers recently “made an exploratory inquiry” to the Dolphins about DE Jason Taylor’s availability.

The story explains the Packers are in need of pass-rush help with Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila coming back from knee surgery.

Packers defensive coordinator Bob Sanders and defensive assistant Robert Nunn know Taylor well because they were on the Dolphins’ staff under Dave Wannstedt.

“Anytime you can get a guy of that caliber, you’d want to try to get him,” Nunn said. “But I don’t get involved in anything like that.

“All I know is that when I coached him, he was a great football player and a great person. I hope it works out for him because he’s had such a great career, and I’d hate to see it end on a bad note in the public’s eye. The guy is such an outstanding individual and a great football player, and I just hope for the best for Jason and hope it ends well, and he’s able to compete for a Super Bowl.”

The article goes on to say Packers GM Ted Thompson might not be willing to meet the Dolphins’ asking price for Taylor. Thompson wasn’t willing to part with anything better than a fifth-round pick last year for WR Randy Moss.

However, the Dolphins are believed to be seeking a second-round draft pick but might settle for a third- or fourth-round pick. That’s a high price for a player who has said he may play only one more season.

2nd rounder??.....No.
3rd rounder??.....Very tempting.
4th rounder??.....Hell yes!!

Yeah, and throw in Bodiford/Francies/Swain or any combination thereof.

I'd be OK with a one-year only if it was a 5th or lower, otherwise two-year for a 4th would be doable.

A few weeks back, I entertained thoughts of Jason Taylor somehow winding up in GB. Since then, we have heard Billy P re-tract his statements of unhappiness with Jason Taylor. Methinks now, that is only a ploy to drive up the asking price for Taylor. I will be very surprised to see Taylor in a Miami uniform this fall.

This is one deal, that I think, TT might be considering very seriously. (course, what do I know?)

But, I do believe the Packers might be "thinking long and hard" ...(oops, that's what she said... Wink) about Taylor being a Packer. And precedence has already been set. ie., Sean Jones, Reggie White, Thierry, etc...

And the Packers seem to have some prior goodwill "ties" with Parcells and the Dolphins.

So, we can only hope.

Send the Dolphins a 6th and the rights to Favre for Taylor.

TT is the greatest opportunist in NFL history. He checked in to see if he could get Taylor for cheap. He can't. Nothing to see. Move on.

Seems like much to do about nothing. I'm guessing the Packers have made "exploratory inquiries" about a lot of players. The odds of TT giving up a draft choice for a guy who only wants to play for one year are about as long as that same guy wanting to play his final season in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

We'll have a lot of money wrapped up in the DLine if we bring in Taylor. KGB, Kampman, and Taylors cap numbers are pretty high I think. Jenkins does pretty well also.

Certainly we could afford to bring in Taylor because we have like 30 mil. available. Having like 25% of our total cap wrapped up in the DE position is a lot though.

I'm wondering if KGB could be packaged with a low round pick for Taylor?

When did they start playing college ball in the cold in November, December and January?

Some nice speculation by the writer of the press-gazette article. "The Dolphins are believed to be seeking a second-round pick but might settle for a third- or fourth-rounder." Really, they might be willing to trade their best defensive player for a fourth-round pick? Seems like a no-brainer, if it were true, and if there wouldn't automatically be probably a dozen teams willing to part with a fourth-rounder for Jason Taylor -- yes, even on a one-year rental.

Taylor would be too expensive. If TT didn't want to give up a 2nd rounder for Moss, he wouldn't for Taylor. I don't foresee Taylor being an impact player. A very good player, yes, but not an impact player. That said, I wouldn't complain if GB did acquire Taylor.

Why not? KGB is a bargain for a sack artist.

His salary is not a problem at all.
