At the small cheese factory I work at has a small retail store. Today 3 guys came in who had been trout fishing here in Southwestern Wisconsin. One of them introduced himself as Bob Skoronski. We had a nice chat, they were in a hurry to get back fishing. He looked great, taller than I thought he was tho.

He couldn't beat Ann Piorkowski in a footrace in grammar school growing up in Connecticut. She's my mom. Died 5 years ago but it's these roots that made me a Packer fan in the 60's.

No, I really didn't have anything to autograph. I'm not really into that stuff anyway. If I'd had a Packer hat with me, maybe.

He's got to be up their in age. Met him when I was kid in high school...he was the guest speaker at our football banquent my sphomore year, if my memory serves me correctly. Don't remember to much about him except that I was awe struck to actually meet a real Green Bay Packer for the first time in my tiny home town.(pop. 1300 +/-)

just to add to your story....I had never met a Packer until they came to my small hometown and played in a charity basketball game....it was cool...I remember Doug Hart and Ray Nitschke playing...I was only 8, but it was cool.

Also, Zeke Bratkowski spoke at our end of year sports banquet in the mid-70's...I think he was coaching at that time, however.

Yeah, that was cool bck in the day, when they used to do that. Of course, our hometown was hughe (3,100) but I went to the Catholic school where our graduating class was only 32 kids and our football team probably didn't have more than 5 - 10 subs, but we managed to have a Packer speak every year at the Athletic Banquet. I remember seeing Bart Starr. Jerry Kramer, and I think Forrest Gregg but not sure. I know there were a few more. I wonder if they did that free back then? Anyone knos if they still do that?

- Yeah, well ...
Don Beebe couldn't outdo my wife in a footrace in grammar school ... but then he got a little faster in high school and she said she got lost in the dust.

Not to "one-up" your Bob Skoronski story but....I spent an entire day with Bob Skoronkski!

Back in the late-80's he owned a Indiana-based medical supply company that bought the company I worked for in Milwaukee. His son Steve basically ran the show, but Bob did a lot of cashing in for them on his Packer connection.

Of course they wanted some field time with the company's best sales rep to show Bob around the new geography they acquired. That person wasn't available so they chose me.

Spent the entire day with him. The guy's whole life was about being an ex-Packer. Of course my customers thought it was cool (those that knew who he was) but basically, 'ol Bob spent the entire day talking about himself and things Packer circa 1965. Change of Possesion was our waiter during lunch.

Never asked me a single question about myself or my family in 8 hours. That really put me off. Sorry, but that's all I remember...hey, Donovin Darius is a cool guy though! Big Grin

1. The new non-planet Pluto knows Change of Possession.

2. Change of Possession knows the elevators of Las Vegas.

3. The elevators of Las Vegas know the steel that wasn't forged in Pittsburgh.

4. Pittsburgh's professional football team once had a player named Yancey Thigpen who dropped a ball against the Green Bay Packers in a sort of important game once.

5. The Green Bay Packers once employed Bob Skoronski.

6. Bob Skoronski does not know me.

I've had some luck some times when meeting players; instead of asking for an autograph, I've asked if they have a fan club or address I can write to for one. Received some nice autographed 8x10 glossy's!
