He won't get insane money, but they need to lock him up and give him more than what he's earning.

I still think we need another RB via the draft...BJ is a 3rd down RB...a very good one, but we needs another hammer!

He's an exclusive rights free agent after this season, so he will get a new contract.

I think they'll wait until late next season before they re-sign him. As much as I don't think he is, he's going to have to prove he's not a 1 year wonder before he gets big money.

I think he'll be an RFA next offseason so we're most likely going to have him at least 2 more years. Like I said though, I think late next or next offseason he'll get a new deal.

I think GB still needs to find a #2 back to play behind Grant. Jackson appears to be a nice 3rd down back. As for Grant, I can see TT signing him to a 3-5 year deal this off season and use up some of that cap space.

B-Jack is coming on, I think he's better than most people give him credit for. But hey, what do I know...I wanted TT to keep Arliss Beach at the beginning of the season. Damn, feels like a lifetime ago at this point.

I like Jackson more than I do Grant. I realize that Grant has been amazing, but Jackson has "it" to me. He sees things that most RBs don't see, and he has the speed to knife through teams that Grant has. The Packers are actually in a good spot- you need two good, productive backs in the NFL, and the Packers are equipped with two, IMO. If Grant prices himself in the stratosphere, then he will be the odd man out after next year.

I can say this with certainty that this group of coaches will play the best player. If Jackson is better than or as good as Grant either now or later, he will get to play. In the past I certainly would have wondered if the best would play only to attempt to prove that a player was worthy of a contract that had been paid or a draft pick that had been made by the GM. I have no idea if Jackson has the "it", but he has looked good in the time that he has played late in the season as Grant has as well (obviously). It could be the case as in Denver where the running back is not nearly as important as good blocking and the scheme (not saying just putting it out there).

I'm done questioning TT. What he does is what I would recommend. Been burnt too many times with my predictions Smiler

He's a rookie. You gotta give the kid time to develop. He surely isn't a power runner but I think he's more than a 3rd down back. Hopefully he really takes it up a notch next season.

I agree with GD on a contract extension. They may not wait till the end of next season but they should be looking to see him produce for a second year. Still, if they did extend him this year to a reasonable contract I'd be super cool groovy with that.

I really think fans' perception of both Grant and BJ are somewhat colored by how they were aquired. If Grant were the second rounder, were would peobaly be less of a wait-and-see attitude, and if BJ were a sixth rounder he'd probably be getting less slack.

It's early for both, but I haven't seen much out of BJ while Grant has been just the opposite. The answer with Grant is probably to go with an incentive-laden contract.

After reading this from P King I'm starting to think the Pack will come up with some cash sooner rather than later:

quote:
145 running backs make more than Ryan Grant ($310,000). That's an average of 4.5 running backs per team making more than the hottest back in football.
