Laughing What's it been, 5 years and the Bears still think they can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. The Green Bay Packers thank you.

I don't think it's a bad signing. The Bears don't have a lot of options other than RG and Orton, and Orton still has a ton to prove, IMO. The Bears have a lot of cap space, so even if RG doesn't start, the contract shouldn't burden them.

That might be, but in 2 games Orton has started vs GB he has beaten us. In Bear land, that is all that is required these days - this still mystifies Grossman. Also, he doesn't make the mistakes Grossman does.

Grossman was 4-0 against the packers until the last (meaningless) game of 2006.

Ok, I admit I did not look that up ahead of time. It didn't "seem" like he did that. So beating the Bears is a little tough for the Pack these days. Thanks for the info.

I thought Grossman was playing pretty well before he got hurt again.

And that's the key phrase... "before he got hurt again".... He's had one season that I can remember where he didn't suffer a significant injury.

When it comes to Grossman, he'll tease you for awhile and make you think you can win a championship with him, and then just like that, he will break your heart by either getting hurt, or mentally falling apart.

I think he'd make a fine backup QB for someone as he's got a good arm and when the pressure is off, he plays well. He'd be perfect in a relief role, or as a guy who can rally you for 2 or 3 games if the starter is hurt. But I think counting on him as a starter is pretty foolish at this point of his career. I think he will always be a tease.

The starting rival QB's in the division are Grossman, Jackson, and Kitna which as a packer fan has to make you feel pretty good. All these guys are prone to making major mistakes which makes the decision to keep Sanders vanilla defense puzzling.

Even though they just signed him to a contract, I'm not certain the Bears will pencil in Grossman as the starter. To me, in his limited action, Orton has showed a lot more ability to minimize the "major mistakes." If I were Lovie, I'd tell Kyle Orton it was his job to lose in training cap.

That said, I certainly hope the Bears go with Sexy Rexy all the way.

And as we have seen with the Bears and Lovie, winning the battle (beating the Packers) is more important than winning the war (Super Bowl).

Well, at least we've won the battle and GOTTEN to the war Wink.

PS: I never realized Grossman had such nice, child-bearing hips. Sexy-Rexy indeed!

Why is it the Bears have one good season and crash and burn? This is the norm for close to 20 years.

As a Packer fan I applaud the Bears for this signing. The only thing I am disappointed in is that it's only for one year. Grossman has a ton of potential, but his head and injuries have kept him from realizing that potential. His only full year was 2006, and that was not all that spectacular (3193 yds, 54.6% completions, 23 TDs, 20 INTs, 73.9 QB rating). Sure the Bears made it to the SB, but that was due to a very good defense, not Grossman. Really, the only smart portion of this deal is that it is only for one year.
