I'm well over the loss to the bores. We had em, we blew it, we lost. I gnashed teeth for a day and moved on. We'll get em next time
Now comes the Redskins. Just how good are they at 3-1? I think I read they are like 1st against the pass and top 5 against the run, or something like that. So are they really that good or did they play cream puffs getting to 3-1 I'll be at that game and am looking for the Pack to come out and play inspired ball against them. You guys/gals who know much more about football than me can help point out the weaknesses on the Redskins that we can exploit. Other than protecting the ball with no turnovers how do we beat them? |

WAS 16 MIA 13
WAS 20 PHI 12 WAS 17 NYG 24 WAS 34 DET 3 I don't think they've beaten anyone as good as GB looks. They will have a hard time scoring points on the Packers. If we take care of the ball, we should win a relatively low-scoring game. Tough to run on, but I think the Packers will be able to throw on them. |

Agreed that we should win and that it should be a relatively low-scoring game. The 'Skins have two great young safeties that will really limit our bread-and-butter YAC. And I don't expect that we'll be able to run against them, either.
Campbell is an up-and-coming QB, but he's still learning, and the rest of their offense is nothing special, except for Portis - who they continue to under-utilize. This game might be the defining moment of our season. Talent-wise, we should win. But, IMO, it all depends on how our youngsters spring back after that stinker/heartbreaker against the Bores. |

They're pretty good. Very few teams have shut down Detroit's passing offense with Martz running it; they did. They're probably better against the run. It's going to be tough to move the ball on them.
Campbell's nothing special, but I don't agree the rest of their offense isn't. Santana Moss (if he plays) is really good. Chris Cooley is too, definitely better than the two tight ends we just let catch touchdowns against us. Trying to cover Moss, if he's healthy, will give Portis some room to run. Overall I think they're the best team we've faced this season, seriously. |

Me, too. They're for real. Defense is solid with some hard hitting players in the backfield (see: L. Fletcher and S. Taylor). They have good WRs, TE and RB (also the QB is better than Brian Griese) so we better score some points or we could easily be embarassed. Keep the faith. Keep throwing the ball, spreading the field and letting Wynn run over some people. The biggest mistake from the Bears game is not spreading the field in the 4th quarter (especially tough to do with Jennings in the locker room and Jones on the bench). Barring any more injuries to Greg Jennings, our offense should be unstoppable. Jennings is KEY to our offense, though. Without him, well, look at the second half of the Bears game. |

Maybe one thing that will help the Packers is that I believe they've got a couple offensive linemen like Janssen and Thomas hurt. The bad news is, I think those guys were out last week and they rang up over 30 points.
Joe Gibbs is notorious for giving his QBs good protection no matter what the circumstances. This means guys like Poppinga, Bush, and Nick Collins have to be at the top of their games as there will be plenty of passes thrown their way I'm sure. Don't expect the Packers to get too many sacks on Campbell due to the protection schemes. |

Does Gibbs run more max protect schemes? Because this would be a huge help to the Packers defense, as the players who hurt them the most tend to be the TE's and RB's. If the d-line can cause enough pressure to require those 2 positions to stay and block, that would be huge. And what is the deal with Jennings shoulder? I didn't hear much about it, but is it serious? |

I agree that the Pack won't score a lot of points so as I pointed out in another topic, this is the week the defense has to really step-up. Campbell isn't anything special right now so the defense needs to get to him and rattle him. I'd like to see a mistake free 17-10 win.

Scanning a few Redskins forums, many Redskins fans seem to think the Packers are the same team as Detroit, minus a running game. Most seem to think it will be another blowout win for the Redskins.
The Redskins have a very good defense: * They are 3rd overall for yards/game at 268.0 (Green Bay's defense is 17th at 327.8 yards/game) * They are 3rd overall for points/game at 13.0 (Green Bay's defense is 12th at 18.6 points/game) * They have 6 Takeaways, of which 4 are INT and 2 are Fumble recoveries (Green Bay has 9 Takeaways, 5 INT and 4 Fumble recoveries) * They are 2nd in the league in stopping 3rd down conversions at 32.7% (Green Bay is 6th at 37.1%) On offense, they are about average: * They have the 12th ranked offense for yards/game at 340.8 (Green Bay is 6th at 362.2) * They are 14th overall for points/game at 21.8 (Green Bay is 8th overall at 25.0) * They have 5 Giveaways, 3 of which are INT and 2 are lost fumbles (Green Bay has 10 giveaways, 4 of which are INT and 6 lost fumbles) * They are 14th in the league for converting 3rd downs at 43.9% (Green Bay is 12th at 44.1%) This will be no cakewalk for Green Bay. Washington is a team the Packers can beat, but they will need much fewer penalties and will need to limit their turnovers. |

The Skins are for real. I see this as a huge game.
This could be a huge turning point in this season. If the Packers can settle down and play solid game a beat a good team and go into the bye at 5-1 with a positive feeling, it could be a huge factor in the season's success. If they play like they did last week and give away another home game, 2 weeks off with pissed off coaches and depressed players could have a long term negative effect. |

Agreed. Get to Campbell and win the game. I'm comfortable with the run defense right now and Pickett has really picked it up as well. No mistakes and pressure on Campbell, the Packers win. It's that simple IMO. I also think the Packers will be able to run some on the Skins. I hope like hell Spitz is practicing his ass off right now. |

Campbell throws a pretty nice long ball. I haven't heard much about Moss or Randal El's status. I think Campbell can be forced into some bad decisions

This is sure tackling All-pro Brian Dawkins getting run over by the skins 285 lb FB These guys have some nice weapons on offense....Santana Moss, Randle El, Cooley , Portis, Sellers, and Ladell Betts. From what I've seen, Jason Campbell is starting to get it too. I agree with those that say we need to pressure the QB big time in this one, otherwise they have good balance on offense that will pick us apart. Our D-line needs to dictate the outcome. Their defense is physical and fast. Hard hitting LB's that swarm to the ball. Their safeties scare me....if we run slants be ready for some scary collisions. They appear to be very good at taking away the pass. Should be a fun one...two rising teams. |

The Skins gameplan will be to hit Cooley and attack the middle. I fear that will be the gameplan for every team with a decent or even average TE this year. Collins and Poppinga HAVE to step up.
Woodson and Harris are about as dominant as you can be right now, and with Bigby backing them up, it is very hard to beat us deep. Get to Campbell + improved SLB/SS recognition and play = we should be OK. Offensively, yeah, the Skins can hit, but the Bears and Eagles can too. But it's hard to hit something you can't catch. Limit the mistakes and of course we should be OK. |
