Has anybody heard or read if Jolly's trial date in Houston is still set for the 27th of this month?

Ain't gonna be no trial. He'll plead to a lessor charge that allows him to continue his career. That and a two game suspension from the commish, is my guess.

I can live with a giddy trial date, to call it jolly seemed presumptuous.

A presumptuous trial date sounds too dated.

Now it's delayed three more months, until 26 June. After the draft. I read that Jolly asked for the extension from last week until today; I don't know who asked for the three month delay.

Doesn't seem to help the Packers at all. If I'm Thompson, I try to get Raji with the 1st round pick and a DE with the second. If Raji is gone, take a DE with the first and Brace with the second.

You're exactly right, it's just I can't see the defense operating this year with Pickett as the only NT. If Jolly goes to jail, is suspended, or both, Jenikins isn't health, and if Harrell isn't healthy, the team is in a world of hurt at DE as well.

Also, I don't like the CB/S from Ohio State, I don't like any of the running backs with the 1st or 2nd round picks, and as far as lbs, goes, at least the Packers have 10 bodies already on the roster they can use; some of them have to be decent. So, maybe it's time to draft defensive linemen in a big way.

Postponed again.

The start of Johnny Jolly's drug trial in Houston was reset for July 17, a court spokesman said.

Donna Hawkins, public information office for the Harris County District Attorney, said the trial did not start today as was previously scheduled. She originally said it could go to court on Monday, but that was changed to accommodate cases in which defendants were being held in custody.

This is the third time the trial has been postponed.

That means the trial will begin just two weeks before players are required to report for training camp.

Jolly was arrested nearly a year ago and charged with possession of at least 200 grams of codeine. The trial was originally scheduled for March 27 but was then pushed back until today.

I'm pretty sure as long as he isn't convicted for "attempt to distribute" he'll get a slap on the wrist... How Commissioner Roger handles it is another ball of wax.

If a date is a trial, I'd say it is to much like work and break it off. But then, that might be presumptuous of me.

Is it normal practice to bring a date to a trial?
