Not to mention his questionable mental state right now. McCarthy seems to be concerned about Favre’s commitment to the game .

I know there are those here and on other sites that want Favre back, but from what I’ve read, looking at polls, and talking to other Packer fans I would say the majority wish he would have stayed retired. Now that Goodell has allowed Favre to come back and the Packers are welcoming him back, the majority (from what I can tell) either want him retired or traded.

I don't really agree with your sense of what the majority is (everyone likes to think that their opinion is "right" and what the majority feel, I guess), nor that people are automatically assuming they'd get the 2007 Favre. Some clearly feel the 2008 Favre might be better than the 2008 Rodgers, which is in fact a valid opinion, one that maybe we'll find out how accurate it is. There are plenty of opinions out there. Those who feel Favre is washed-up today aren't necessarily more correct than those who feel he isn't. Who knows? Acting like it's only a bunch of morons who think the guy can probably still play and may be better than Rodgers may be comforting to some, but that doesn't mean it's true. In fact, nobody knows, we only know what TT and McCarthy apparently have believed to be true over the past few months (which is apparently different from what they felt in March when they were willing to welcome him back, and which may or may not be different from how they feel today, which again we can only guess at).

But aside from that, I don't remember Packers fans ever being called some of the most football knowledgeable around, either. The vast majority of Packers fans I know how have the same lack of knowledge about the rest of the NFL that the vast majority of any team's fans have. Lots of homers, lots of people with only a dim grasp of other rosters, etc. But hey, I don't know that many people.

With all of that said, does it really make sense to continue on with a guy for the "feel good" instead of letting Rodgers develop? Because at this point it's a safe prediction that either QB is possibly going to make the playoffs but not the Super Bowl. Favre playing for another year is at best stagnation so some fans can feel all warm and fuzzy. Rodgers takes his lumps, we find out what he's got and get him some solid starting experience. I'm concerned with the Rodgers of 2009.

As far as the "knowledgeable" comments, I've heard it more than a few times on national broadcasts. Does that mean we are more knowledgeable? Who the hell knows.

Rather! Tough to boo, when one is sniffing cognac. Booing is for the beer crowd.

There would have been swooning, marriage proposals(by both genders) and probably many would be yelling "I/We Love you Brett".

The guy won 13 games last season I don't see the feel good in that, but Rodgers is the QB and until Brett proves he still has last years ability his late coming to camp should have him on the bottom of the depth chart.

Family fun night was pretty vanilla when it comes to the offense and defense Pre-season will show a little but truthfully I feel, gameday is needed to show what Rodgers situation should be.

Very well could have.

But one could argue that Favre may have deserved them due to his own actions.

Rodgers has done nothing to deserve being booed before the first snap.

Apples and oranges.

I bet that would have filled up a couple of trailer trash short buses Roll Eyes

I can't wait until about 8:30 this evening. X4 circus jerk will be in full effect. Why do I have to wait so long for a press conference. I guess it's so busy in GB, and Apple Bee's (haha, spelling nazi's) doesn't serve flip flop pancakes, Kwik Trip either.

The Philly overtime interception was on 1st down, to boot. His gamble throw against the Giants was on 2nd down, while we were on our own 28-yard line!

Exactly my point on uneducated football fans. Favre won 13 games last year? Well, then we might as well put the losses on him since it was his play that lost the Cowboys and Bears games plus the Giants home loss.

I must have missed something because I didn't hear boos, so I guess if others did it couldn't have been that loud. Whatever.

As for the Family Night deal, the only reason I went was because it was a recognition event for some of our employees. The "game" itself was really secondary IMO.
