Brett Favre isn't the only quarterback named Favre who's having a big season.

His nephew, Dylan, a sophomore at St. Stanislaus High School in Bay St. Louis, Miss., completed 178 of 321 passes for 3,092 yards and 36 touchdowns this season, the latter both records for southern Mississippi passers. His passing yardage is ninth all-time in Mississippi and his TD total is 11th all time. He threw only 13 interceptions.

The Rock-A-Chaws went 8-3 but were eliminated from the playoffs last week, so Dylan is looking forward to baseball ... and spring football.

"I'm going to take time for my shoulder to heal up," the 5-foot-10, 170-pound Favre told the Biloxi Sun Herald. "I need to get bigger and stronger, and work with Coach Stu (Rayburn, the Rock-a-chaws offensive coordinator) on my mechanics."

Dylan comes from a family that knows a little about quarterbacking. His dad, Jeff, and two uncles, Brett and Scott, were quarterbacks at Hancock North Central High School. Dylan's late grandfather, Irvin, coached at Hancock North Central. Dylan lives with Scott Favre during the school year.

Because as we all know, people stop growing at age 15.

You're the one that said he needs to grow 6 inches not me. Some memory you've got there.

Quite frankly you are confusing me. It seemed to me that you felt that since he was only 15 he would continue to grow and become a great NFL QB.

I said he'll probably end up taller than 5'10. Not every NFL QB is 6'4. Just look at Favre, Brees, Romo, Rodgers, Garcia, etc. None of whom is even listed over 6'2, and as we all know, those can tend to be generous.

He could. Joe Mauer for the Twins was still growing last year.

FYI: Male caucasians often continue to grow until they're 19-20. A "typical" 15 yr-old caucasian would be around 5'8".
Big Grin

The only thing worse than succeeding Favre would be trying to do so w/ the same last name I'd think...talk about shoes to fill.

A lot of St. Stanislaus kids around here...used to be the boarding school where hell-raisers were sent when I was in high school. However, I have a buddy whose dad went there in the 60's and it was simply for the wealthy at that time.

I was 5'7 when I graduated high school. I'm 6'2" now. There was a guy in my sister's class who was 6'3" in high school and grew another 4" in college. I would say these aren't common situations but it can happen.

See, being full of **** has it's advantages.

Regardless, unless the kid can play better than Flutie he better enjoy his high school years.

Former MU (and later Cleveland Cavalier) standout Jim Chones was a good 6-1 guard his freshman year in HS. As a soph, however, he became their 6-11 center. That must have hurt.

Is that with or without your pumps?

I was 5' 11" in 8th grade and I am still 5'11" and getting close to being 50.

Wow, I went from 5'7" to 5"11" in just over a summer in Jr. High, graduated at 6'1" (17) and grew almost another three inches afterwards. You're like my friend Kevin was: a power forward in Jr. High and small guard as a senior.

I can't wear pumps, corns and all. I'm 6'8" with my afro.

I was 6 feet and 180 lbs when I graduated from college, now I'm 5'10" and 200lbs, I'm sure the height decrease is due to gravity and the weight increase is due to muscle. Or maybe I used to lie about my height and I'm just getting fat. Which leads me to believe that Dylan Favre may get taller and then shorter and will most likely weigh more in 10yrs than he does now.

No we won't. If his feet aren't big enough just a couple layers of socks.

As for Dylan, there is a lot that can happen between HS & the pros. Just ask Payton & Eli Manning's older brother. He has to get there first.
