Vikings | Allison surprised he lasted as long as he did
Sun, 29 Apr 2007 20:37:53 -0700

Minnesota Vikings WR Aundrae Allison said he was surprised he fell to the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. Allison was not sure why he fell as far as he did. He added, "I felt like the people that picked over me, I felt like, just the history of them making good picks is not good at all. It's not a coincidence that the people they picked; they never make the playoffs. I feel like Minnesota is good at evaluating talent; this organization is on the coming up and coach (Skip Holtz) knows a couple guys in the offense, I am sure just by him giving his word knowing I can play football. And the teams that passed up on me, I feel like they haven't done their research good enough."

Ahh . . . come again?

lol

That's one thing I've appreciated about TT's draft picks. They've all seemed fairly intelligent and well-spoken for the most part.

Agreed. With very few exceptions, our draft picks have been very well-spoken. I don't think it's a coincidence that adding (relatively) intelligent players is leading to success. You obviously need athletes to win in the NFL, but I'll take a slightly less athletic player with a brain over a superb physical specimen who can't put a complete sentence together any day of the week.

Could you imagine the offspring:

I personally believe that US Americans are unable to do so because some people out there in our nation don't have maps and I believe that our education like such as in South Africa and the Iraq everywhere like such as and I believe that....

Um, Aundrae.... the Vikes picked 4 players (1 of them being a WR) before you in the '07 draft.

1 7 Adrian Peterson RB Oklahoma

Genetically, 100% chance at stupidity and only a 50% chance to attain good looks.

It was a huge play for me because I really owe a lot to the team by accepting me coming straight from junior college and just looking at me as a leader.

I really don't believe there's a lot of people that have heard of me. In the past few seasons, we haven't been doing too well, but I'm pretty confident that as the season goes on, people will be looking me up.

I was planning on doing something, but I wanted to act like I've been in the end zone before.

More Andre Allison:

It was huge for us. That's the kind of thing that the team works so hard to just to come to this day right here. So it was a huge play for me because ... I really owe a lot to the team.

It has been like that since the first day I got here. As soon as I got here he showed me around campus. We had a few classes together over the summer and we just connected.

Me and James communicated prior to the play. Their corners were playing a lot of cover three zones, so I wanted to out-run them. I told him to put it up there so I could make a play and he did.

That sounds great to me. I want that. I want to show what I can do and showcase my talent.

From NFL.com:

Played 11 games, started 0. 8 receptions, 122 yards, 15.3 average, longest 35 yards, no TD's. Rushing, 2 attempts, 3 yards, longest run was 3 yards. 2 fumbles, 1 lost.

Sounds like a diamond in the rough. VERY rough.

But he IS playing in the NFL, which is something that, in spite of my background and talent, I never did.
