I thought of posting this on the Parket/Leg thread but I thought it may deserve it's own. Is anybody else concerned that Grant is getting ALL the carries lately? I personally would like to see BJack and VMo get some...just in case...RGra gets hurt.

Lets assume the Packers do that and start Grant (with the notion of playing Grant for only a half), and on the first play or so, similiar to Parker, Grant breaks his leg?

I'd be sad.

Same here.. Point is, a severe injury can happen at anytime...Even if you have good intentions of reducing his workload.

I'd just like to see B-Jack get some more carries (period). It's that time of the year where you'd like see what the rookie has learned over the course of the season.

Considering he started carrying the load in the 7th game, has only 4 of his 8 games with 20 or more carries, he should be fairly healthy and strong at this point. His total touches this season are only 197. He is 6'1" or so and 225 lbs... he seems built and runs like he can handle the load. I've also noticed that he doesn't get hit that squarely too often. Must be his shifty moves.

The funny thing is that I was thinking along these same lines just this morning.
I wasn't concerned about Grant's workload. He simply hasn't been run to death this season.
I wanted to see Jackson get some more carries to see what he could do. I think the O-line play has improved nicely as the season has progressed and I wanted to see if this made a difference or not in regards to Jackson.

Grant defiantly has earned the starting spot, but earlier this year the debate was on because all our backs have shown potential...spread the ball around, can't hurt anything.

Other than Wynn, Grant is the only one who has been able to run the ball effectively. Morency has done some good things recently as a receiver, but hasn't really rushed well, and Jackson has mostly been a non-factor. Grant gets the bulk of the carries by necessity.

I'm wondering what the off season will bring in regards to the RB position. Assuming Grant continues to prove to be a solid starter, do they feel they have enough quality behind him to make another serious run next year should Grant get hurt. Morency, Wynn, Jackson, Herron all seem adequate, but it would be nice to have more than adequate confidence.

Why are you guys wasting an entire thread on a guy that according to Dilweed, we won't even remember in two years?

I tend to agree that an injury to Grant would be a crushing blow. There seems to be a HUGE dropoff in ability from him to the rest of the guys.

Can we win if Grant gets injured? Yes, we won before his emergence. But the wins seemed to be much harder to come by before that running game started to take shape. He's been an unbelievable surprise this year.

I agree with PB. I don't see where we have choice. Also, as has been stated, he hasn't worked himself to death yet. So he should be ok. I think that TT will address this position again in the draft.

I think Ryan has prepared himself well and is more than capable of continuing his current workload. Grant's role as a starter is well-deserved and shouldn't be diminished for any reason other than injury.
The coaches see what they need to in regards to a player's development in practices; we don't need to see what BJack, Morency, or anybody else can do during a game.
Also, Grant tends to punish the defender trying to tackle him; let's see how much the opposition wants to tackle him in cold temperature games.

From watching him, it looked to me like he takes a lot of solid hits and is not very shifty. Hopefully he can stay healthy and keep producing as well as he has been.
