Well, if you are planning on taking "full advantage" of what Vegas has to offer, B better make sure to take some extra penicilin as he did at RockFest.
Otherwise he might get |

Good Evening, It just so happens that this will be my first trip to Vegas, I like booze and gambling so I'm pumped. I heard during the super bowl its really a blast, so I'm combining 1st time ever and super bowl together.
Staying at NY NY, anyone been there, what should I expect? GO PACK |

quote: I would expect a good time! When I visit Las Vegas I always go to NY NY. There is a bar on the main level in "Times Square" Not sure of them name, the place is a blast 2 pianos head to head and the musicians will play just about anything you can come up with. Of course they like a little tip in the tip jar. But anyways check it out if you have a chance. |

quote: I've never stayed at NYNY, but go there to gamble a lot. From what I can tell it was OK. There is a review on the link below. http://www.cheapovegas.com/vegas_casino_full.php?hotel_id=1040 I liked what they had to say about Coyote Ugly. I have to agree. Coyote Ugly: Nothing attracts crowds like a bar based on a bad movie, and boy oh boy what a bad movie Coyote Ugly was. During the day, it's just an overpriced bar with no cover and cute bartendresses. At night, though, the bartendresses jump around like ritalin-deprived schoolchildren. The music is loud, the cover charge starts, and it's a party vibe. Check out the bras hanging from the fixtures, one of those is Stinky's. |

Haven't stayed at NYNY myself, but had decent luck in the casino the few times I played there. Good location, too. Here are some reviews for it-

Alright, I am back. That is to say that my body is physically here, but everything else is either asleep or left behind in Vegas. We flew Midwest and got a pretty good fare ($300). The winds on the way out there were quite heavy, so the flight took about an additional half hour. Not bad, but I was anxious. There were a ton of people at the airport. The electronics convention (as well as the porno convention) brought a lot of people to town. The limo driver was waiting for us at the baggage claim and we were off to the Flamingo in no time. We had a nice suite, nothing tremendous, but nice nonetheless. I was ready to get to the dice table, so we hurried down. No matter what I did, I couldn't lose the first day. It is very rare that I can win at both dice and blackjack. But it was great. Since I was winning I decided to go all night. About 5:30 AM I decided I would call my wife and say goodnight. She asked what I was doing up already and I informed her that I hadn't quite made it up to the room yet. I don't think she liked my comment about having time to sleep when I got home. I slept about an hour and showered up to go downtown. I felt like hell. I would have been better off just staying awake, but I had a few Capt. and Cokes, so I felt like I needed the sleep. Downtown was an absolute ghost town. It was quite eery actually. It almost felt as if there were only about 20 people left on the face of the earth. We didn't stay downtown very long. No gamblers anywhere. Went back to the strip to get a hot dog and a beer for $1.25 (Best Hot Dog in Vegas, and a beer to boot). Took the Packers for $220 and layed 6 points I wanted to check out the Hard Rock, because I have never been there and will be taking my wife in March for a concert. Worst casino I have ever been to. They try so hard to be trendy that it makes you want to puke. Dim lighting, young inexperienced gamblers, 40-something hipster dufus pit boss'. Awflul. The only redeeming quality were the cocktail waitress' and their outfits And I'm not some old fart. I am 28 years old, and couldn't stand it. I think you have to be 21, drunk and horny to be at all comfortable in that place. I'm getting tired of typing. Rest of the trip was good. Not many gamblers anywhere. Prostitutes were out in full force. At the Flamingo one came up to me out of the blue and offered her services. I told her that she should be paying to sleep with me and laughed at her. I don't think she liked that too much. Went to a bunch of different casinos, so if there are any questions, post them and I will try and answer. Sorry, I'm just too tired to think. |

quote: Hey Tooner, Maybe I should have qualified that it was a good fare for Midwest. We could have gotten a lot better fares with other airlines, but there was either a connection or it was a cattle car like Southwest. I don't mind paying extra for a direct flight with a little more room. |

edgefour, still gotta disagree. Midwest has lower fares than that unless you book 6 days before departure.
The extra room on Midwest doesn't impress me either, I don't need extra room side-to-side, you still have no leg room because the seats are crammed too close together, but all the airlines do that. |

Tooner,
You are the man when it comes to tickets, whether it is the Packers, airline, whatever, you are a knowledgable man. So, what should I do to get cheap airfare in March. I am going back out to Vegas for a concert, and it just happens that there is a NASCAR race the same weekend, so all the toothless gearheads are driving up prices. Any suggestions? Oh yeah, on a side note you might enjoy, I played live poker for the first time in my life and took two decent sized pots off of Norman Chad. I thought that was kind of funny. First was a total bluff, second hand I had pocket Ace's. He didn't know what to say, but I could tell he was a bit frustrated. |

quote: Sign up for the frequent flyer program. If you fly the same airline, even if only once a year, it will pay off in the long run. There are different promotions too for frequent flyer miles; with Midwest I signed up with their credit card and got something like 2500 miles just for making a qualifying purchase. Airfare is usually lower when you book in advance as airlines reserve a certain amount of seats for various tiered pricing; why, I don't know, but if you wait other people will claim the lower priced seats. Sign up with Midwest's email notification; they have all kinds of ongoing specials. Once you book a flight occasionally check in online or call to see if airfare prices were lowered for whatever reason. You can get a voucher for the difference toward a future flight. And here's an angle you can play: If you have any kind of a problem with your flight, send a polite letter to the airline stating what happened and why you were disappointed. It's practicially gauranteed that you will get a voucher towards your next flight. Regardless of all of the above, generally if you plan in advance and watch the prices you will usually do pretty good compared to not planning and shopping around. |

Just got back from Vegas a week ago. We go every year around this time. We have a nice advantage in that we own a time share in Florida, and for some reason Fairfield (Harrah's, Rio, Circus Circus, and Fairfield Hotel) always want us to come out and guy a time share in Vegas. Soooooooo, we pay our air fair that is cheap, and stay at Harrahs from Thursday-Sunday night for only the room tax for those days and any phone calls. We DO however have to sit through an hour and half to two hour "presentation" to try to get us to buy. We've got it down to just bringing books or magazines with us if the seller is rude and just read and drink while they do their presentation.
For gambling, we go next door to Harrah's at Casino Royal ( a dump)but great table rates for BJ ($3-$5 during the week, $5 to $10 on weekends, $.25 and $.50 roulette, and $1-$2 craps). This year however we actually took a beating from them. Next door on the other side is Imperial House that had good rates too. They are right that don't go to the back bar late at night. Won quite well there. Take the time to go to Sahara during the day. Take the mono rail pass for the day. Sahara dirt cheap and not super busy. $3-$5 tables. FAST drink service. |

quote: Gotta disagree on the Sahara -- I stayed there once....once. It is in the middle of nowhere and a dive (for lack of a better word). They are even stingy on comping (which being a dive, you would think they would want to keep gamblers there). Sorry, I have nothing good to say about the place. |

I used to go to Vegas twice a year for business and always made a point of eating at The Steakhouse at Circus Circus. Its not cheap but it is amoung the best places I've ever eaten. Breakfast was always at the Peppermill (next to the Riviera)

Leaving Friday.
Got jacked around on airfare because of the NASCAR event. I have decided to take a black marker and "color" my teeth so I will fit in better with the rednecks. Anyone have any confederate flag gear that I can borrow? Then they would really think I was one of "them". |
