What would you guys say is the cheapest, but the best hotel value ON the strip?
I've only been out there once, thinkin' about makin' a trip back there with a friend that has never been out there. I stayed at the Luxor, and I loved it. Great stories guys, keep 'em comin'. |

quote: Check out this link: http://www.cheapovegas.com/index.php You can stay pretty cheaply at the Imperial Palace, but stay clear of the back bar at night because it is loaded with transvestites. You can probably get a good rate at Harrah's, and they have a great outdoor bar with live music. |

quote: Ha! How about FREE? Call the Westward Ho and find out when they will come back to Milwaukee. Milwaukee is one of their favorite markets so they put on a seminar once or twice each year. They have a seminar where they automatically sign you up in there plyer's club and they will comp you three free nights and give you a free show and dinner. There is no obligation and if you give them the action they're looking for you can keep going back for free. I stay away from the table games so I don't get to go back for free any more but it's their fault for signing me up. |

I love the Cheapovegas site, lol!
A few other links to check out, too- http://www.lasvegastalk.com - Check out the "Comments and Reviews" section especially. http://www.travel2vegas.com/messageboard.html - Really good Vegas board. http://www.cocktaildoll.com/ - Some hilarious commentary. Well, as for my opinion, you could stay at Circus Circus or the Westward Ho pretty cheap, but it is worth the few extra bucks (though it might not be any extra if you get a good deal) to stay at the Flamingo or Trop, and have a good pool area and good location. Though we always stay in the tower rooms at the Tropicana, you can get the "Garden Rooms" very cheap sometimes, and some of them even have balconies overlooking the pool area. Another option would be the Stratosphere, real cheap and nice casino, but it is just so far north, in the middle of nowhere. |

... Oh yeah, even if you don't gamble that much at all, be SURE to sign up for the slot clubs wherever you go!! Some places (Trop & Strat) will give free room offers for very little play, and many places will send discounts and such just for being on the list it seems.
And if you ARE going to play, signing up is a must. Throwing money away not to, really. |

Hey Tooner, are you going to play in a WSOP event next year? They've changed it from May to June 3 - July 15 at the Rio. 45 tournaments instead of the usual 33. My plan was to try to win an online sat sometime before then for the main event ($10K buyin). But that starts July 7 and I can't make it, so I'm looking to enter one of the other tournaments in June. The cheapest one is $1k.

Any of you poker players play on-line? Man, talk about fun (and good money). I play when I can. Small tourneys, no-limit (real money)...I've cashed out over $500 in the last couple of months. There are TONS of stupid players out there.

quote: I play at PartyPoker. Mostly $30/$50 tournaments (single table). I don't have time for larger tournaments usually. I did play one on Saturday, finished 41 out of 690. $4500 for first would have been nice, I won $93.00. You are right, TONS of fish out there. Which makes bad beats even worse. My AA getting beat by a 27 that draws out a straight. Grrrr.... |

quote: No, I may go to Los Angeles with some friends and hit the card rooms out there this year (2005). The date change causes problems with some members of my "group." The way I've been playing in Green Bay lately, I probably should take up needlepoint. As for the discussion, I forgot to add that you can get cheaper room rates if you play poker at most of the Vegas casinos (if they have a card room, that is). That's another way to lower the hotel cost. |

Tooner... You are right the HO is the place to go.. I have been going there 2x a year for the last 4 years.
Always get rooms and food paid for, (thanks to my grandpa) he practically lives there. But anyways, I would reccomend the HO as well. Very nice people, Mega Dogs, and Margaritas.. |

I would only stay at Westward Ho if I lost my senses of sight and smell. Otherwise, I would not...LoL, Im just sorta kidding..I have never walked in the place but one of My Buddy stays there only cuzz he is a cheap-azz as he says..He says The casino is small, dark, and smokey..He says The 99 cent dog is about all you can do to keep it down unless you have a cast iron stomach...
If I recall right, he pays something like 20 bucks a night for the motel room he gets..If your just looking for a cheap place to sleep and dont mind a VERY BASIC room, or mind walking some distance to the casino like my buddy says go for it..I say No TY..Food and drink prices are all fair he said...But who pays for a drink in Vegas? I never have or will..I play so much Video Poker I just plop down at the bar and as long as your your playing when the bartender comes around its all good..A nice tip will have him or her asking if your ready for another..Same with the waitresses on the floor.. By no means am I ripping on the Ho because I have never been there...Im just going on what my buddy says..I know this next Feb he is staying at the Boardwalk, anybody know much about that place? |

Lots of good tips here. One attraction I havent seen mentioned in this thread is the Fremont Street Experience. It is a sound and light show that is mindboggling. 12.5 million LED lights and a 550,000 watt sound system. I highly recommend this show, it's free and it is a great way to stretch your legs and get away from gaming for a while. It is at the North end of the strip in Old Las Vegas.

I will be going out with my dad in January, then again with my wife in March. I am taking her to the Duran Duran As for going to Coyote Ugly, I didn't think it was worth it. High prices, decent women but nothing great. For what they spend you may as well go to one of the strip joints. Freemont Street experience is pretty cool. I was surprised at how much I liked it. It sounds like a lot of people like going to Vegas, but were not getting any stories. What's the deal? |

quote: I agree -- you want women go to the pool at the Hard Rock, or go to some of the clubs, or private clubs if you can get in. Foundation Room, Rain, Ice, 54, Skin etc. (I am sure there are newer clubs, I haven't been out there in a year or so). Of course . . . can't go wrong w/ Spearmint Rhino if that is what you are looking for. |

Spearmint Rhino is a nice place to visit, as is Olympic Gardens.
drmrboy- When are you guys heading out for the bachelor party, and did my invite get lost in the mail? There are a ton of things to do with a group of guys in Vegas. How many do you have going? There are some hotels like the Hard Rock that have package deals for BP's, but they can get pricey. As for going to clubs, there are ways I read on other boards to get on VIP lists, etc. |

C'mon guys, we have a nice, fairly clean thread going. I don't mind the rips, I just don't want the thread to get locked.
And for the record, I do not like trannies. |
