![]() Registered: 01-23-2005 Posts: 6889 | Bit more than I would have liked them to pay, but I am also glad he'll be a Packer for four more years. Now....let's Get Jolly, Collins and Pickett done! |
![]() Location: "hate groups" or whatever Registered: 09-22-2002 Posts: 40201 | ONLY 21 MILLION! TT STILL HAS ALL THAT DAMN CAP ROOM HE'S JUST WAITING TO EMBEZZLE WHEN NOBODY IS LOOKING! |
Location: Sconnie Registered: 07-12-2000 Posts: 12871 | He's valuable on special teams and for depth, but this strikes me as a tad steep for a guy who is not a regular starter. |
Location: NFLFU© - Heil Registered: 01-10-2004 Posts: 24381 | Seems a little steep, but perhaps Chillar means a little more in the locker room than you or I are able to see. |
![]() Location: Defensive Player Of The Year Registered: 01-09-2001 Posts: 8675 | I wonder if this means anything for AJ Hawk's future. Hawk has played pretty well of late, but earlier in the year Chillar was the preferred player by the coaching staff. It seems odd they would pay three middle linebackers fairly big money, but perhaps they plan on playng a lot of Okie, or Big Nickel or whatever. |
![]() Location: "hate groups" or whatever Registered: 09-22-2002 Posts: 40201 | He is the best coverage LB and quite interchangeable at any LB spot and will have as much playing time as any starter. Good signing. |
Location: Denver, CO Registered: 08-16-2005 Posts: 3022 | The size of this contract makes you wonder if Hawk is in for a pay cut. Still, the Packers have the money and cap room, so you may as well use it. Off the top of my head, Chillar is the only player slated to be an unrestricted free agent if the CBA is not redone, right? I think Clifton is too, but I'm not too worried about him leaving. EDIT: Just remembered Kampman is too. But i don't think the packers will bring him back. |
![]() Location: "hate groups" or whatever Registered: 09-22-2002 Posts: 40201 | I think Kampman is gone for sure and who knows about Clifton and Tauscher. At this point I think both guys would come back as a safety blanket while their replacements are put into place. As far as Chillar, I just don't see this as that big of a contract. He's a regular contributor on the field and a great fit in Dom's coverage schemes. |

It wouldn't be all that surprising given their cap room that if the Packers are paying him a 2 or 3 million dollar roster bonus right now, which means they would only be on the hook for 4 to 5 million dollars after this season. Even without a cap the Packers are likely to run a payroll of 100+ million dollars...Chillar would be unlikely to cost the team more than 2% of that in any year if the Packers decide to cut him. |

Pickett! I bet TT is working on him. Collins has to wait another year. |

Location: haters gonna hate Registered: 01-07-2004 Posts: 5572 | yes please. Pickett/Collins, get it done |

Good to be well stocked at a position other then Fullback and Brenoland. Hawk has really been coming on. Barnett has been playing lights out. CM is ROY material. And Bishop, Jones and Poppinga are all in the mix and contributing. Not a bad group of LB's at all. Chillar is still young and can fit in any position in the rotation |

The uncapped year isn't what I'm concerned about. It's keeping a great player happy. Collins did want a bump last year but came into camp and has played great. He's young and will be a fixture at safety. Pay the man. |
![]() Location: Defensive Player Of The Year Registered: 01-09-2001 Posts: 8675 | I think they need to reward Collins pretty soon ... he's taken his game to new heights the past two years. Going into this year there was the unknown about how he'd work out in the 3-4 .. well he's answered that with another good year. |

![]() Location: Kapooya KAPOOYA.. Registered: 05-09-2000 Posts: 20275 | Collins has done very well.....and to be honest the whole defense has performed way beyond my expectations. And to think this is their first year in the system. Not one of our guys had experience in the 3-4 or worked for Dom previously...that is incredible how well they have picked things up. |

He's not been a regular starter because he broke his hand. As his cast has gotten smaller, his playing time has increased. When that hand is completely healed, I suspect he'll see quite a lot of playing time. |
Location: East Wing of Boris' Mansion Registered: 12-17-2000 Posts: 16718 | According to PU Packers would really benefit from no CBA next season. From that piece:
Now with Chillar taken care of, main focus should be Pickett. Collins deserves to get PAID but on the other hand, he doesn't hold all the cards like he would as a UFA. |

Agree on Collins. As for the D, they've steadily gotten better which is really what matters. Guys complained a little bit early on but I think Capers has them sold, and it's showing. |
