Not I, to get the four game suspension they recieved, they would have had to fail not one but two drug tests already according to the NFL drug policy and CBA. So they had two warnings already. They dont need just a slap on the wrist for the third. I am very happy to see the NFL sticking to it's guns. |

Question for the legal experts and atternys here:
Is this judgement by the MN judge only valid in MN? As I understand it if you play a game in another state you have to pay taxes for the state you play in. Could the NFL just say OK, you are now suspended for the first 4 road games instead and get around this ruling? |

Good post. I was thinking the exact same thing. I don't think judges in Wisconsin and Illinois are going to be as sympathetic as the homer judge in Minnesoty. |

Great edit to that whoopin' ass pic, Foo. You should circulate that one around a bit ... I'm sure PFT would put it up.

Why didn't someone ask Sotomayor this hypothetical last week.
It could have given more insight as to if she would allow sports bias to impact a decision, (not that the MN judge did this - duh?, or that there's anything wrong with that) After all... she saved baseball. |

It would cap a great week for the Vikings if the feds come down hard on the Williams duo.

There's absolutely no chance of them making the playoffs if they lose the Williamses for four games. I'm just distraught over the fact that CKA is probably going to be fired after the season.

Geeeeez. Why don't we just hold off and wait until they retire?
That way everyone benefits because so much anguish is being held over everyone's heads. Goodell needs to pimps his peeps in Washington and get this taken care of. MY GAWD. |

Then every NFL player should go out and buy whatever the nastiest, most ridiculous juice is that they can find and start blasting it into their systems right now. After all, if this crappola ruling holds up, then anything not explicitly on the banned list is fair game, as most state employment laws are in line with MN's that I've seen. These clowns will be suspended for farting or blinking at the wrong time if that's what it comes to. It sure seems like so far at least that if you're a player, you don't f**k with Goodell. He's got to be livid about this. |

From the article:
“I just want it to be over," Pat Williams said this morning. "If they’re going to suspend me, they’ll suspend me. If they ain’t, they ain’t. I’m just tired of it dragging and keeping going because you don’t want to keep it over your head, your family’s head, your teammate’s head, your coach’s head, your owner’s head. It’s just something everybody has to worry about.” What a dumb-a$$. |

I love reading the Vikings fan boards. A lot of fans want them to get it over with and miss the first four games rather than later in the season.
It's a travesty that a homer judge can get away with this. No way the feds uphold this idiotic decision, thus allowing all NFL players to pretty much take what they want. It doesn't pass the common sense smell test. |

I as well as most fans will be laughing our azzes off if the sisters miss the last four games if the Queens are trying to scratch out a playoff appearance. |

Yeah I posted something similar to this in a prior Williams' sister thread. Scour the list of approved substances, find stuff that is "shady" (i.e., not on the approved list but not necessarily explicitly illegal) and start injecting it to cover up roid use, which is what the Williams' were doing anyhow. I still don't know why the NFL can't just come back and say "OK first 4 road games", since they won't be working in MN during those games. |

We should know more about this later today.
Federal Appeals Court hearing today MINNEAPOLIS -- The NFL will ask a federal appeals court Tuesday to uphold the suspensions of Minnesota Vikings defensive linemen Kevin Williams and Pat Williams for violating the league's anti-doping policy. Oral arguments will be made in St. Paul before a three-judge panel of the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. The NFL hopes for a quick ruling that would let it suspend the players for four games at the start of this season. The players took the weight-loss supplement StarCaps, which contained an unlisted but banned diuretic that can mask the presence of steroids. Their legal fight remains alive in a Minnesota state court. But the NFL is asking the federal appeals court to rule that the players union contract and federal law trump state law in this case. |

I'll bet you hear a decision backing the NFL by next Tuesday, thus putting a slight delay in those Vikings win Super Bowl parade plans.
Mark it down! |

I wonder if Baddall will add a game suspension for the sisters trying to circumvent the CBA and going against the wishes of the commissioners.
He almost has to do something about that...otherwise ALL players will try to drag out a suspension...knowing there won't be any "extra" consequences... Baddall must add something to make sure this disrespect doesn't happen again. |

No, not off the hook. The court hasn't ruled yet. My guess is that a ruling in favor of the NFL is issued by Wednesday.
