That's ok. They'll serve it eventually. Though it will never be said publicly, Goodell has to be pissed - look for the Vikes to be scrutinized by the NFL for any minor violations.

Exactly. Ask Al Davis how the league has treated his team over the years after he kept suing corporate headquarters constantly. By the time this is done, these guys will likely spend more money on legal fees than they would have lost with a 4-game suspension, but I guess that's their decision and their right.

He should have nailed them last year for tampering with Favre. After what has transpired this year is there really any doubt that they were sniffing around him last year.

The NFL needs minny to build a new stadium and will not do anything to stand in the way of that blessed event.

Whether its a cake of a schedule, a few "interesting" calls by a Ref, or offering the Williams Bros a chance to pay a fine and avoid suspension, you will note that the juggernaut of more revenue is the ultimate decider in this and every case currently on the League docket.

Follow the money.

Once the new B.L.F. Memorial Stadium is built in the Twin Cities, then the League will extract their pound of flesh. But so long as a Favre-Brady Super Bowl is a possibility, all actions will lean in that direction.

Roger Goodell even ordered an extra case of Depends for the Networks' bean counters who pee'd themselves at the very thought. Wink

Man, this pisses me off immensely! Mad
More than likely, this will be the 2nd game we will play against them where the "sisters" should not be playing, yet here they are.
I sure hope the league is able to get some control over this matter, and others similar, in the new CBA. What good is it to have a policy if it can be defeated by an end-run in the court system?

What's the status on the other 2 or 3 guys who got nailed? I think one of them was Will Smith. I know some other player for the Texans took his medicine and took the suspension at the end of the year last season.

This is such a pile of BS.

Relax. (I've been saying that a lot lately Confused)

It's very rare that a judge can stop a CBA. The rules are the same for everyone, across ALL states. These 2 ass clowns thinking they can skate the system in Minnesota is a complete joke. It's quite obvious they have a judge in their back pocket.

AAMOF, they're all probably on the love boat right now yucking it up.

I think the NFL should probably have dropped the suspensions for the players involved with Star Caps, and maybe just given fines, warnings, or something else.

The product in question contained a potential masking agent for steroids, but was not listed on the box. What makes it worse for the league is that they had knowledge of that banned substance being present, but didn't share it with the union because they thought all the players would go running to get themselves some Star Caps to mask their roid use.

Had the league not have had any prior knowledge of the ingredients in Star Caps these suspensions would be more than valid because of the leagues current policy of players being responsisble for what is put in their bodies.

I dunno ... four game suspensions for Viking players sounds awesome, but the fact that the league didn't divulge some info to the players association kind of taints the case.

I think in the end, the courts will rule against them, with any luck it will be at the end of the season just in time for the December fade...

They knew they were responsible
They knew Star Caps were not on the approved list
They knew they couldn't trust supplement labels
They knew it was a big risk
Their agents knew
1800 other NFL players managed to figure it out
They took them anyway, repeatedly.

The only thing the NFL didn't share was that instead of it being a high risk, it was closer to a certainty.

But since each batch is different, and the ingredient isn't listed, the NFL would be liable for a lawsuit from the Star Caps mfg unless they could prove what it contained. And since the mfg claims ignorance, the NFL had no way to make any such definitive claims about what was or wasn't in those Caps. All they could do was preach "buyer beware" for the last 5 years

Ignorance is an excuse for being a viking, but not for avoiding this rule.

Good points, Satori ... if Star Caps isn't on the approved list then it's the players responsibility to make certain that the product they are taking is legal. They should be spending their time in court battling Star Caps then, and not the NFL.

If the Williams boys win this, the logical result will be that anything not specifically on the banned list is fair game for the players to take. Given how quickly new products hit the market and disappear, that would basically render the entire PED schedule and policy in the CBA moot. The burden simply must remain on the players to adhere to the policy. How some homer state judge can basically effectuate that nationwide policy change is beyond me, but this entire case is mired in very strange and rare technicalities of jurisdiction as much as anything else.

What I find interesting is that the MN judge is also a Vikings season ticket holder. Good to see he's remaining objective through this whole situation.

I'm assuming the judges there are voted in or out. If so, this guy just cinched his spot on the bench for a long time.

A little firepower behind the NFL

Looks like this isn't dead yet. The US Olympics, MLB, and other pro sports are getting behind the NFL in their battle against the William sisters.

The "sisters" are slitting their own throats. Even if they "win" everything in court, the league can suspend them for anything they want.

Uniform violations, not talking to the media, a flag on the field. You name it, they'll be marked men. Just like JJSD mentioned (Al Davis)

I guarantee they will have to serve their suspensions at some point.

Did anyone read the comments from the numb-skull Viking fans? The league will end up getting the last laugh. They will be suspended even if it is in out of state games, which will be even MORE hilarious! Don't these homers know that some judge that has season tickets is going to show favoritism. I hope they hold Gary Larson accountable too.
