It sounds like this was done without getting Cutler to renegotiate his contract (he has big dollar signs in his eyes). I think Chicago is in for some interesting times when our favorite agent, Mr. Cook, decides to squeeze them.

The Bears also got a third-round and two seventh round compensatory picks this year. B-N-D |

Interesting reactions.
The unbridled enthusiasm of Deep Chicago vs. the cautiously optimistic approach of B-N-D I honestly didn't think the Broncos would get that much for Cutler. We'll see..... Should be interesting the 1st week of the season. |

Does this mean TT will be so excited about the worth of Rodgers that he starts looking for a couple of first round draft picks and a bears QB in a trade? Maybe he should talk to the Broncos after all.(joking)

A lot of the backing of the trade by Bears fans comes out of their convictions that Angelo is incapable of drafting in the first round. I am still trying to understand this rationale. Angelo's ineptitude should have earned him a ticket out of town, not an extension. Now, somehow, this deal becomes acceptable because Angelo is a bonehead in the first round.
IMO Cutler is still an unproven commodity. Sure, he put up big numbers last year with good wideouts in a bad division, but sorry, that's not enough. Speaking of commodities, Cutler should put a cap on his whiny BS, because he is exactly that, a commodity. I have my suspicions that this whole drama-fest was engineered as a money making scheme. Cutler sees elite, and not so elite, QBs hauling in big coin and he wants his. I see the Bears having contract issues with him in short order. Ron Turner passed on Cutler in college, I wonder why? On Orton missing Hester on deep routes,Hester dropped or whiffed on just as many as kyle missed. Have a nice day. |

There won't be a "contract issue." Having given up a mint in draft picks, the Bears will do the same thing financially, probably before the draft. They're committed to Cutler, so they may as well pay him like it.

Cutler on Wednesday:
Cutler also claimed the Broncos went weeks without attempting to contact him. Pat Bowlen has offered to show reporters the phone records to refute this statement. Nice try Jay, but you're starting to remind me of Chicago's most hated Jay, Mariotti. The gushing over Cutler on Chicago sports radio is way out of control. Desperation does strange things to folks. |

Right, because the Bears have a history of handing out money without having their feet held to the fire. |

Everyone is calling Jay Cutler a pro bowl QB, but there was a lot of talk that he did not deserve it, as Pennington, Cassell and Rivers had equal or better seasons with better records. I feel like Cutler in Chicago is still a coin flip. I could see him being great for the Bears, but I could also see him struggling. Only time will tell

You talk as if teams ripping up old contracts for players they just traded for and giving them brand new ones is some kind of rarity. Clinton Portis was under contract. Washington ripped up his deal and gave him a huge new one after trading for him. Javon Walker was under contract. Broncos gave him a huge new deal after trading for him. Keyshawn Johnson was under contract. Bucs gave him a huge new deal after trading for him. Pretty sure you can come up with a few more examples without trying too hard. You can think it's stupid and unncessary, but it is what usually happens. If you want to believe this one will somehow be different, OK.

All i'm saying is that the Bears usually take a hard line in these types of situations i.e. briggs. I'm sure Cutler will get his money, but it will be a problem. I would like to thank Daniel Snyder and the Redskins for driving the price on Cutler through the roof. Some are reporting this deal was done with the Bears only surrendering one first round pick and a third until Washington jumped in and offered more. |

They didn't trade (2) 1st rounders, a 3rd rounder and a starting NFL QB for Briggs. I'll be beyond shocked if Cutler plays in Sept. under his current deal. |

I'd be shocked as well. I just don't believe the negotiations will be easy and there may be some whining and threats involved. |

Perhaps there is something in that purse that will help cleanse the sand out of Cutler's vagina. Nah, the money should do the trick. |

I just watched the press conference annoucing Cutler in Chicago . He said all the right things loved everbody in Denver , Loves everybody on his new team ,looking foward to playing for the Bears , dream come true etc. But Jay didnt smile or grin once through the whole thing kinda makes you wonder . I remember when Haynesworth had his interview with Washington earlier this year he was grinning from ear to ear ,giddy and besides himself as he was now a Redskin (a rich redskin that is ). Oh and Da Bears paid 15 million for Pace for three years with 11 mil in the 1st 2 years to play left tackle. Supposedly less than the Ravens offered but the Ravens wanted him to play RT.

I saw the press conference and noted the same thing, he didn't look too happy. Cutler only laughed once and that was when he was questioned about swaying Lovie to be less conservative. That said, I'm sure he'll be grinning when he gets paid.

IMO, thats the way Cutler's demeanor always is ... I've never seen such a high profile QB bi?ch at his teammates and have a scowl on his face as much as Cutler has in the past.
If he does not change that approach, he is going to have trouble under Lovie because IMO there will be no one there coddling him and Urlacher would have to take a back seat. Gonna be interesting ... |
