No real point to this thread, other than a fun little walk down memory lane:

I remember 1995 as being a pretty fun season. The Bears had a prolific offense (!) and a banged-up sieve for a defense which lead to a lot of entertaining shoot-outs. Even though they missed the playoffs when Atlanta stunned the 49ers in the last second, it's still a season I remember fondly--if for no other reason it was the last time the Bears had a dynamic offense and competent QB play over the course of a full season.

At the time, I remember being pissed that Erik Kramer, who set all kinds of Bear passing records that year, didn't go to the Pro Bowl. Looking back at the stats 15 years later, it's easy to see why. He was the forth best QB...In the DIVISION!

Here are the videogame-like stats our "black and blue" division QBs put up:

Brett Favre (GB): 4,413 yards passing, 38 TDs (versus 13 ints.), completed 63% of his passes.

Warren Moon (Min): 4,228 yards passing, 33 TDs (versus 14 ints.), completed 62.2% of his passes.

Scott Mitchell (Det): 4,338 yards passing, 32 TDs (versus 12 ints.), completed 59.3% of his passes.

Erik Kramer (Chi): 3,838 yards passing, 29 TDs (versus 10 ints.), completed 60.3% of his passes.

Our teams combined for seven 1,000 yard receivers and the Pack, Bears and Lions each had 1,000+ yard rushers (Sanders went over 1,500 yards).

Did any of our teams play defense that year? Smiler

Statistically, certainly a great year for all 4 QB's.

Remember 1994 when all 4 teams made the playoffs (Tampa was 6-10) for the NFC Central?

Crazy stuff & you won't see it happen again now that we have 4 divisions per conf. instead of 3

I do remember that, and it very nearly happened again in 1995.

We were the best division in football there for a couple years. It's too bad the Bears and Lions quickly faded into oblivion Frowner.

Erik Kramer from ..... ? Cool

Kramer was a very good, underrated QB. I wish he would have landed on
better teams Wink
that 91 season where he came from nowhere to lead the Lions to the NFCCG
was pretty cool.

I remember how he completely picked the Cowboys apart in the Divisional Game. Why the Lions decided to let him go, in favor of Rodney Peete and Andre Ware, is anyone's guess. I guess that's why they're the Lions.

Unfortunately, Kramer, as has been the case with any Bears' QB who has shown a modicum of ability, was quickly smited down by the Football Gods. I don't think he was healthy for a full season again.
