When does his contract expire? If he's still got a year or two left, it might be wise to look to trade him in order to get a couple draft picks. I know there are the usual concerns about salary cap and so on, but it could work out nicely for the Pack, seeing as TT loves picks.

According to cpheph's page, his contract doesn't expire until 2011. No one's trading for bubba.

Like it or not, Bubba Franks will be a Packer in 2007. I look for TT to sign or draft someone else, and for that "someone else" to be the primary receiving TE. It'll be kinda like what we did with Chewy towards the end of his career, less catching, more blocking...

Not that you need anybody to agree with you...but I happen to agree with you. The Packers really won't gain much by cutting Bubba in 2007 and that's the main reason they'll keep him. If he eliminates the drops, he'll be a decent safety valve...regardless, I think his blocking is good enough in blitz pick-up and in-line blocking. I think he also provides some veteran leadership which is a valuable intangible asset. |

A conditional 7th in 2011 and a case of Blatz comes to mind...steal for the Pack. ==================================== I think the realistic hope is Franks has an average season at least (for him)...which would be much better than '06. Agreed they'll look to upgrade there; in fact it'd be a travesty if they didn't. S and TE were, far and away, the most woeful starting positions. |
