No Gamel? That would be a shame.

Unless Gamel wins the 3B out of spring training I suspect he will start the season in the minors. Can't have his bat sitting on the bench. However, I would be cool with a platoon with Casey.

That last lineup obviously has a Rover playing ... that would be cool 'cause I'm thinkin' that would be a good way to help the pitching staff.

I also like your
Ideal Lineup that won't ever happen lineup. If it gets Braun and Fielder 10-20 AB's each over the season that makes us better. That should cinch that it will never see daylight. |

If the Brewers platoon Gomez and Gerut I predict that Doug Melvin will be lynched by a group of fat 40-year old virgin women who have been driven to near insanity by the idea that J.J. Hardy was traded for a guy who is only in the starting lineup 1/4th of the time.
I'd be shocked if Gerut sees many starting assignments early in the season. Gomez will probably get a solid 6 to 8 weeks to play himself out of the lineup. Hopefully that does not happen. |

I agree. I believe Melvin is crossing himself everyday hoping that Gomez turns out to be a player because even though Hardy struggled last year, he's a heck of a player. I think the Twinkies got a heck of a deal from us. If Gerrut finds some significant playing time it will be because Gomez didn't seal the job. |

I don't see why a productive platoon of Gomez and Gerut would upset anybody?

Im also going to agree with the whole Gomez/Hardy thing...Now that the trade is completed and it is what it is....I sometimes wonder if it was the right thing to do....I'm not sure what could have been done differently though. Escobar had to be brought up. McGhee played well enough last season on a bad wheel to merit the 3b job and that is really the only place I see that Hardy could have gone to had we kept him...then there is still Gamel who I'm not sure anyone knows what to do with! That said, Hardy definately hit the skids offensively and I believe we pretty much got in Gomez what we gave up in Hardy. Gomez will be able to patrol centerfield and could be a staple out there for years to come. If he starts to hit, we ended up with a good deal. If he struggles offensively it's a wash. I think Hardy is going to have a big year in Minnesota. I think the change in scenery will do him well.

Are they in the Dome anymore?
JJ is lucky they are going outdoors on the real stuff, his defense will still be good at SS. Escobar & Gomez in the lineup will be the "X" factor, have a hunch that could go either way ... hopefully Boom and not Bust. |
