I haven't seen a thread on this and wanted to know what people thought. I see an improved team, but not a playoff team.
How does 38-44 look as a prediction? Until they show they can play defense, I don't see this team cracking the .500 mark. |

It's really hard to say where this team will be.
WAG - right around .500 (probably a game or two below). |

Unfortunately I must concur. In fact, .500 would be a pleasant surprise. The fact that Desmond Mason is starting again says a lot. Harris just didn't make any significant moves in the off season to really improve this team. It will still be "Redd's" team, even though it should be Bogut's. It will once again be raining jump shots at the Bradley Center. Which, on some nights will be good, other nights will be bad.
The most interesting thing about this season is the play of Yi. |

82-0
Yi for ROTY, Bogut and Redd make the All-star team. I think a realistic thread title would be..."Predict the Bucks playoff record for 07-08. |

I will play along....47-35.
They will close strong and be the up and coming team of 07-08. |

I think this is the most impossible team to guage that I can remember in Bucks basketball. I really want to think this team can be above .500, but I'm just not sure they can stay healthy. 39 wins.

42-40. Bleh. A mid round pick that won't amount to much and no money to spend in free agency.

I guess I am cheating because I watched them play last night. I think this is a 30 win team. Their D is no better than it has ever been. They will once again rely on the outside shooting of players other than Redd, which will mean that they will have trouble scoring 2 of every 3 nights. I know Bogut is hurt right now, but I don't know what he has to offer anymore. You wait and wait and wait, and it never shows.
I think one big bright spot will actually be Yi. He impresses me, and I think once the game catches up with him, he will be a dynamic player for this team. Lottery-bound again... |

That was supposed to be 81-1 I'll say optimistic for now. |

I really think it's difficult to predict what this team's record will be. I am with most here though in thinking they will be around .500. But injuries could torpedo the season again or, on the bright side, if Yi comes around this team could surprise everyone. I watched some of the game last night and Yi looked like a rookie in his first game. Give him some time to get some real NBA games under his belt. Just from what I saw he's got some real potential and he sems to actually like playing defense.
Just to put a number out there, I'll predict 44-38. I think the team is still searching for its identity right now. It may take a while for everything to sort itself out but on paper they have solid depth and the East is still NOT the West in terms of numbers of good or great teams. |

I think they will win around 36 games.
Larry Harris has put together the type of team that looks really good on paper, but will not function well together. They have too many guys who have the same strengths and weaknesses. I worry about perimeter defense and the lack of any real bulk inside. The good thing though is that Larry has a ton of clothes. Read the interview at www.onmilwaukee.com. |

Im going to sink a little lower....This team will take a good while to gel and thats not just with each other, but with the rookie head coach as well. LK has to instill his system, the players have to bite off on it and then it has to be executed. This team has, over the past what, 10 years (?) refused to play defense. It has a slew of offensive talent and if game 1 is any indication there is still no intension to play any defense. Until this team learns to defend with some regularity, it will be stuck in this same old rut.
25 wins this season, and they may not have to tank any games to achieve that. Until we see something different on the court I can see no reason to see much of a change in their record. |

Boy optimism is running high here isn't it?
My prediction alas is much like most here. 34-48, and they will look worse while doing it being an outside team just jacking it up again. Get Bogut out of the high post and down low. I just don 't understand Harris/Coach K use of him out high "because he is a good passer". to be a good passer he needs to be a better threat offensivly. |

I have felt the same way. I know there's a method to it- and it is effective, like Duncan is also effective out top in the P&R- but for the life of me, I cannot understand why they are insisting that he ONLY stnd on the high post. Mix it up, depending on matchups. Like Saturday- against Ben Wallace, put him on the low block because then Wallace can't help. If Wallace has to defend Bogut on the block, the lane will open up. Just get his ass on the low block to give him some real scoring chances. He is excellent with either hand, and stronger than many think he is. Let him use it! |

This team doesn't look any better to me than last year and the worst part about it is that Harris is signing everyone and his brother to a long term contract extension that will end up killing this team from a salary cap standpoint. Don't go after a Rashard Lewis but resign Mo and Bell to what he's making. Brilliant! |

30 wins max. i'll set the bar at 27. after seeing this team for the first time the other night, they were abysmal. i don't see a whole lot of hope for them.
honestly i thought coming into this season that the timberwolves would be far worse off than the bucks but i'm not sure that is the case. |

I thought I'd pull this up to take a trip down memory lane
It really is pretty interesting that a lot of people had this team pegged even back in early November. Either we are a pretty negative group or we just know too much about what this team has been like the last several years. |

It's no mystery. Mediocre players just never really become good ones just by playing more. Redd is good, but is miscast as the team's best player. Bogut is good but still young and learning and still lacking a go-to move and reliable jumper. Yi will be another 2 years before he gets any progress on his game, because this summer will be a lost summer for him playing in the Olympics. Their best hope is the Lottery. If they somehow get lucky and get Rose, they're the Hornets- suddenly, they have the star to take all their complimentary players to the next level. |
