Wow, where has that been all these playoffs? The Lakers finally put together two great playoff games in a row. Beating the Nuggets to close them out and now beating the Magic so convincingly?
I'm a Lakers fan since coming to America in 1971 but Kobe has got to STOP doing his stupid "tough guy" look after each basket. It's getting old and he only looks like a dork each time he does it. You play a GAME Kobe... in the big scheme of life, it means very little. Just do what you do and quit with the stupid stares. People might like you better if you are a gracious champion. Dwight Howard ...one basket in the whole frickin' game? Unbelievable. |

Was anyone else stunned that Turkoglu's block on Kobe wasn't a foul?
Derek Fisher is pissing me off in these playoffs. His punk act on Scola in that Houston series was pure trash that was worthy of more than just a one game suspension. Punk basketball. You expect Kobe to get calls, but Derek Fisher? Come on. I don't know why this guy gets bailed on acting jobs time after time. The breakaway where he basically fell on his own and got the foul, the breakaway drive where he more or less ran into Howard with no intention of trying to get a shot- both cases a very questionable foul. |

Kobe basically blew Game 3. He was 5 of 10 from the free throw line when he normally a 90% free throw shooter. He went 3 of 14 from the field at the end. He missed three key forced shots at the end and had the key turnover at the end of the game.
Okay, we are all human. He will be hard on himself and he will definitely respond in Game 4 by taking his game up another level! Lakers in 6! |

Hopefully this will turn out like it did with Miami when they went down 0-2 to Dallas and ended up winning the series a few years back.
Kobe doesn't deserve to win one on his own Go Disney! |

When you have 3 officials with him, what else do you need? |

Kobe does not deserve to win one on his own?
That's not a smart comment. First of all, nobody wins one on his own, not even Michael Jordan. Two, Kobe is the hardest working, hardest preparing, smartest basketball player in the league. Like him or not off the court (and I don't), you have to give him props for being what he is...an immense talent on the basketball court. Kobe has carried this team to this point. Though he once again did not have his best shooting night, he is in there mixing it up with Dwight Howard (not backing down), standing up for himself and his teammate (Gasol at the end of the game), hitting impossible shots, and draining his free throws today. YOU ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU DESERVE IN THE END. And he's getting a deserved Ring # 4 though he hardly he did it alone tonight. Game # 1 was one of the best all-around performances in Finals history though by him. And now for the FOURTH time since I joined X4, I can say: INTRODUCING YOUR SOON-TO-BE WORLD CHAMPION LOS ANGELES LAKERS!!!!!!!!! |

I think Kobe is a piece of work, and I really don't care for him or the Lakers. I don't have to rationalize it and to be honest it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.
Do us all a favor though- please do not mention Kobe in the same sentence as MJ? I want to throw up the next time I hear that crap. NOBODY was as good as Jordan IMO, not the Big O, not Magic, and certainly not Kobe. |

How many hours do you think Kobe spends working on his different faces in the mirror? ESPN/ABC are on their knees saying how gritty and determined he is, you can just tell by the look on his face. Give me a break, it's his act and he's getting the press that he wants for his determined 'looks'.

As much as I hate Chicago Sports teams , it was easy to respect Jordan and his ability. Kobe, not so much. He seems like a fraud of a human being. |

The officiating was putrid last night. He threw two elbows last night including one that looked intentional to Superman and no call. He also had a call that has been called flagrant one all through the playoffs not called which would've sealed the game. Amazing how the fornicating raper gets a free pass from the league along with the Goon Gasol.

Ah, petty jealousies and most of you (except Cheezers) missed my original point about Kobe and the stupid tough man faces.
Whatever it might be, whatever he is OFF the court, there is NOTHING undeserved about this ring he is about to win with the Lakers. The man's preparation and work ethic are unchallengeable. As far as being compared to Jordan, no he is not Jordan but the closest yet that anyone has come to Jordan. I'm not a fan of Kobe the man, but his ability on the court speaks for itself. ARTIST, Gasol a goon??? You have no idea what you are talking about. ALL Lakers fans know he is soft and afraid to really mix it up underneath. A goon? What a joke! If Kobe were a Bucks player and leading them to their FOURTH world title, God only KNOWS where Green Bay fans would place him since you made Favre A notch higher than God afer only ONE championship. Face it, if he's on your team, you love the guy. If he keeps beating you, he's all the things mentioned above... No different than any other exceptional player in any sport... What do you all think of Favre now that he's the enemy? I rest my case. |

I don't have as big a problem with Kobe. He's the greatest player of his era, and LeBron will soon be better. But Kobe is deserving of another ring. He's a great player.
But he had better call KG and thank his knee for his 4th ring. If the Celtics had a full roster, they would have repeated. The Celtics proved to be a good team without KG- imagine what they would have been with KG. Orlando doesn't sniff the Finals, and neither does Cleveland. Kobe would have been looking up at KG for the Title a second straight year... |

Game 4 was given to the Lakers by Shoddy FT shooting and a few clowns wearing zebra outfits allowing Kobe to throw elbows.

Greatest player of his era? I am not so sure about that. He got 3 rings because he was with Shaq and Phil. He finally earned one on his own, and he's one of the best players in the league, but personally I think KG is as good if not better and so is Duncan- as the player of the era goes. Chris Paul, LeBron, Wade- maybe Melo - they may all make us forget about Kobe as well. |

Tschmack,
LeBron may have better stats than Kobe this year but who's holding the ring at the end of the year? Stats do not define greatness. Chamberlain always had better stats than Russell but who kept winning the titles? If a guy averages 34 a night and another averages 29 a night and has 4 rings, the champ is better. Wade, Paul, Melo will NEVER be considered in the same breath as Kobe...not now, not ever by anyone that knows basketball. KG is a better player than Kobe? Music City, Garnett should call Bynum and thank HIM for injuring his knee last year which allowed the Celtics to match up with the Lakers. The Celtics suck and won't ever sniff the Finals in the next ten years. |

How do you know that? Those guys could actually get better. Kobe will never get better than what he is now. LMAO on the basketball thing. Just reinforces everything I've said about Lakers fans. Next to the Yankees and Cowboys they are the biggest frontrunning know it all people out there. PS- the ring doesn't always define greatness. Dan Marino and Chuck Barkley were great players and not getting one doesn't diminish what they've done. Go spout off on some other blog where you can share the love with them because I can bet no one here cares about squad. |

I don't know...doing up a "Look at me, MY team is winning a championship" on a board not about that team is a little different in my book.
But, Calbuc, I agree - those players cannot touch Kobe. But, the dude is so NOT likable. |

Phaedrus,
I agree with you totally. Kobe is really not likable as a person or a personality off the court. I'm a Lakers fan since 1970 when I came to America and I even do not like him in any way other than as a competitor and a guy that conditions himself and prepares himself the way he does. But, I am thankful that he as a basketball player was on the Lakers. Let me say this as well, there has never been a player that LA fans have been as divisive about as Kobe. Some worship him and some dislike him a lot as a person. But, NO NBA fan would deny his talent. Tschmack, None of the players you mentioned other than Duncan approach Kobe. Duncan was an excellent all-around player. I say that despite hating the Spurs. But, seriously, are you going to tell me Duncan was the player of the this decade? Kobe won rings in 4 of 9 years so far this decade. So, did Shaq. It would be one of them. Would you bet your life that any of the other players you mentioned will ever be thought of in the same way as Kobe? Yeah, me either. As for frontrunning, were you even born in 1970? |
