Well, it's almost that time again (Tuesday, May 20) for the draft lottery and the Bucks have a 4.3% chance of winning the #1 pick

Obviously the Bucks would need some luck but clearly guys like Derrick Rose and Michael Beasley and even OJ Mayo would look awfully good in Milwaukee.

Go Bucks!

The decision to draft Bogut is one that I don't think anyone can blame Harris for making. However, we had our chance to draft what looks like a Hall of Famer in Chris Paul and passed him up. Atlanta (Marvin Williams) and Utah (DeRon Williams) also passed him up.

My point is that sometimes drafting #4-#8 can get you a franchise level player (like D. Wade or Chris Paul).

Rose is to me the only player that truly looks like he could change the Bucks franchise. The rest of them are questionable, whether it be character wise or how they fit with the team. Mayo wouldn't be a bad consolation, but he isn't the same kind of defender Rose is and I don't know if he is an NBA PG.

Deron Williams is probably one of the 5 best PG's in the league so it's not like he's been a disappointment.

Clearly, if you had to do the draft all over again you probably take Paul or Deron but that doesn't mean Bogut is a bust either. If he can average 15 / 12 he's well worth his value and if the coach finds a way to get him the ball there's nothing to say he can't be a 20 / 10 guy.

Also working against Bogut is he's been part of an org that can't get its head out of its ass - the front office and coaches have been a joke.

Rose is the most impressive player I saw in college basketball this year.

Caveat: I am a horrible judge of professional basketball talent.

I'm not sold on Mayo at all, he scares me as much as Brewer did last year. But I'm in the same category as the Bong man.

I was sold on Rose until he looked kind of ordinary playing against the athletes Kansas had during the National Championship game. Beasley has all the tools to be a superstar, but I have this feeling watching him play the Badgers that he might also be a Tim Thomas type player - capable of dominating but not that worried about doing so. He played well against the Badgers, but wouldn't you expect a NBA superstar to put his team on his back and just completely overwhelm guys like Brian Butch, Marcus Landry, and Greg Stiemsa?

Rasheed Wallace is the same way - a guy who could dominate but isn't that driven to do so. I'm also not sold on OJ Mayo. He's a great athlete and a questionable outside shooter. Is he really going to be substantially better than a guy like Derrick Mason?

What about guys that will likely be there when the Bucks draft? Kevin Love looked great in college, but is he going to be just another Danny Ferry? Eric Gordon is also a possibility, but he didn't strike me as a superstar level talent during Big 10 play.

I don't see any of these guys coming in and turning around this franchise, even if we had the #1 pick.

Rose would be great if they could somehow get the top pick. I think the dropoff after him is significant, more of an indictment on Rose than the other players.

Huh?

Rose has a ton of athleticism. That's one of his best qualities, along with the fact he's 6'3" and could become a Gary Payton type defender.

The fact that he looked ordinary as you say against Kansas doesn't mean much to me. Kansas looked pretty ordinary to me against Davidson with their one man team. Does that mean they aren't any good?

Beasley reminds me a lot of LeBron the way he creates mismatches. Sure, he's probably 6'9" but no SF could handle him physically and no PF is athletic enough to defend him. The guy is Elton Brand on steroids, and it's not like Milwaukee couldn't use a guy like that. Roll Eyes

I also think Rose is a fantastic talent at the PG position and he'd be a great fit.

Finally, the Wolves move up in the lottery! Now McHale can screw up a top 3 pick. Bulls, Wolves, Miami in top 3 yet to be announced.

Bleh, should have known they'd get the #3 pick in a 2 player draft.

yeah right. 3rd worst record...3rd pick...in a 2-stud draft. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Haha, you're right. I should have said first time the Wolves didn't move down in the lottery. Hopefully they draft the Italian guy or OJ Mayo! Roll Eyes

I'd almost guarantee they draft Mayo who will be a complete stiff in the NBA.

Got me thinking of when the Wolves finished in the lottery in 1992 with the two studs of Shaq and Zo. Minnesota ended with another Duke failure in Laettner.

- Thats where I was at during the college season and IMO, a good fit for the Bucks.

BTW, Bulls with 1.7% chance and hit it ... uncanny how these teams beat the odds every year. Roll Eyes

I am suprised it wasn't New York, Chicago, and Miami. But I guess you can't make it "too" obvious.

Hammond has made comments this week about how "some" GM's like to build through trades and free agency because you are getting known commodities. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him deal the pick, either by itself or in a package.
