Just read that at RealGM.
No confirmation yet, but pretty hot. I'm OK with this move, especially if a decent #8 comes in tonight. I wouldn't be surprised if more moves are in the works. Simmons is no loss and Yi is going to be equally exhausted this coming season as last with the Olympic season coming up. Good start Johnny! |

Yes. He was a 22.6 points per game guy last year and is a decent defender. Can we move Redd now?

SI.com
The Milwaukee Bucks have agreed in principle to trade Yi Jianlian to the New Jersey Nets for Richard Jefferson, two league sources told SI.com. The Bucks also are sending Bobby Simmons to the Nets. He has $20.5 million left on a contract that expires in the summer of 2010, when LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh could become free agents. The Bucks get out from under Simmons' contract while providing new coach Scott Skiles with a veteran player who can help him win now. The Bucks also retain their No. 8 pick in the draft to further revamp their team. The Nets hold the No. 10 pick in the draft. ESPN The New Jersey Nets and Milwaukee Bucks are on the verge of a trade that will send Richard Jefferson to the Bucks for forwards Yi Jianlian and Bobby Simmons, according to NBA front-office sources. Sources told ESPN.com that the deal has been agreed to and submitted for league approval in advance of Thursday night's draft. No draft picks are involved in the trade, sources said. The Bucks, meanwhile, would be supplying new coach Scott Skiles with a veteran player coming off his best season to fill a problem position. Jefferson averaged 22.7 points per game last season and played all 82 games after an injury-plagued 2006-07 season. |

Once again this shoots down the "Kohl is cheap" label that has always been on him.
Jefferson's contract runs a year longer than Bobby's and we will pay him about $20 million more overall. And we will lose the Chinese business money from deals signed last year. Good trade. Yi may or may not pan out, but right now we have a very very good SF. Probably means Alexander isn't our guy tonight. And I can't imagine them wanting CV to be the starting PF. I think Hammond is trying to move up to get Love and if that doesn't work he drafts BPA available tonight and tries to get a PF in a trade. |

Great move! Jefferson is a player and Simmons is a stiff. While Yi may end up being really good - Jefferson is an all-star now.

Last year Harris sold Kohl on Yi because of the big marketing potential. This year Hammond sold Kohl on trading Yi to make us a better team.

Awesome trade. I usually like guys with potential like Yi, but Jefferson is already very good and a known commodity.

Wow, this looks like a fantastic trade for the Bucks.
Nets roster almost looks like an NBDL team. |

I'm having a party already. Tissue paper is gone! Bobby the slug is gone!
This is a good day for the Bucks. I still think they can draft JA at 8... but my prediction now is Jarred Bayless. I heard Hammond talking about taking a guy possibly that could slip at 8.... I think Bayless slips to 8. |

Ahhhh thats a good age...and he's a seasoned vet who can help to lead this team.....I think RJ was a great pick up! So glad Simmons and his lack of skills are now gone......that guy was a waste! |

The big rumor is that the Bucks will send Redd, mo Williams and the 8th pick to Miami for the 2nd pick, Shawn Marion and a player per 620 wtmj...They would use the 2nd pick to draft Mayo....

This is great news! Simmons just never could stay healthy and I could not stand another year of the Yi drama. If you are going to cause that much noise with complaining you better be a dominant performer. I think Yi is too soft to ever become that.

This has been an unsubstantiated rumor circulating at RealGM all day. Some poster apparently has two inside sources. I wonder if the Big Unit reported it on TMJ? |

Isn't Des repping the Bucks at Summerfest?
Him being traded would make for a great reaction shot. |

I couldn't be happier. Yi won't be able to develop for another year because of his China commitment, and the Bucks get about 3000% better at the SF position in the process. Jefferson does seem to get banged up from time to time, but if he's healthy, he's an excellent player and I am sure Skiles will like his D effort.

I thought that Bayless would be the pick after the trade today...
But I can see why they took Joe Alexander. In fact, I like him the best of the players available. He is versatile, he can play the 3 and 4... He is a determined kid and WANTS to be a Milwaukee Buck. I love the pick. |

I think Redd is staying in Milwaukee. I doubt Mo is. He will get moved IMO, especially after fighting with a coach last year. He is an ego case. Redd is a much better fit with the current Bucks.

Today has already made the Bucks a better team overall. RJ is a bonafied starting NBA SF and Alexander is exactly the type of guy that should mesh well not only with Skiles, but with the fans in Milwaukee. After watching some tape on "Vanilla Sky" I was really hoping the Bucks would take him and they did.
I'm with everyone else here in thinking that the Bucks are far from done changing the roster. There will be at least one more big trade and maybe a couple more before it's all over. |
