The Bucks have declined to tender a qualifying offer to Charlie Vllanueva, making him a free agent tomorrow.
http://www.jsonline.com/sports/bucks/49469297.html Not sure how I feel about this. Charlie had his moments, but certainly isn't irreplaceable. But, with him and Jefferson both gone, who's going to play the 2 forward positions? Alexander? Mbah a Moute? One of the new guys (I saw somewhere on the internet that Bowen is contemplating retiring)? This team will definitely look different this coming season. |

O.K., I know nothing about this guy. Can you fill me in a little? His not even listed on the roster on Bucks.com.

Yeah right. He is softer than Charmin. |

I actually don't mind this move.
Villanueva is really a one trick pony- he doesn't really defend or rebound and he simply jacks up a lot of intermediate/long range shots I really think Amir Johnson and Joe Alexander are going to be given every opportunity to win the PF position. |

And what is Villanueva? Chiseled stone? They're the same type of player- perimeter game, Euro style game, ball skills. He went back to Europe and is supposedly coming back a lot harder than before. That won't mean that he's Charles Oakley or anything, but he's basically the same as CV and he'll be a helluva lot cheaper. Neither are superstars, but they'll contribute. Ilyasova will do it for about half the price. |

I for one don't like your 4 jacking up 3's regardless and CV was soft too. The Bucks might've been better off looking to trade with Philly for Brand.

4s jacking 3s is the way the NBA is now and Brand is a Black Hole...Philly was MUCH better after Brand got hurt. I like CV, think he's a good guy and a player that actually liked Milw, but guys like him are a dime-a-dozen in the NBA...easily replaceable. I agree with MC Johnson could be the future at PF for the bucks. I also think it's way too earlier to get worked up about this roster...lot of changes coming yet. |

Well, we know that Detroit won't be playing D any time soon.

The Pistons will soon find out why Toronto & then Milwaukee didn't see CV as an important piece to the puzzle.

Detroit went from playing methodical basketball to a transition to more run and gun style and since that change they have (more or less) completely sucked. The AI for Chauncey trade was a complete debacle for the Pistons, and now they are bringing on more guys that seem to be interested in scoring points than doing anything else (defense, rebounding, passing).
Villanueva is totally overrated and like FinnLander said they will find out soon enough. Milwaukee has enough guys that can score- they need more beef at the PF position- or at least some guys that are willing and able to rebound, contest shots, and play some D. That was certainly not Charlie V. |

I sure don't see this. They are going to have plenty of problems scoring. But, that is part of their sacrifice to get where they want to be, including proper management of cap. |

They were without Redd and Bogut, who really help their FG %, but they were one of the 5 worst shooting teams last year. Scoring was a big problem last year.
Their starting 5 right now is: Sessions (not a great shooter) Redd (great shooter) Mbah a Moute (not a shooter) Johnson (defensive player only) Bogut (post scorer only) Their bench is: Bell (average shooter) Alexander (not a shooter) Ilyasova (good perimeter game) Stoudamire (shooter but undersized) Gadzuric (no offensive game) That team might be in the 80s a lot unless some key guys get a helluva lot better shooting the ball. |

Detroit mistake.
4 years from now he will be only valuable as an expiring contract. NBA GM's are dum |

The Bucks were 15th in the league in points scored- not great, but not terrible either considering that Redd and Bogut were hurt for most of the year.
They will lose some scoring punch with Villanueva but the two guys they drafted can score and Alexander is/was a pretty good offensive player as well. FG percentage is a different matter, but with guys like Villanueva it's all offense- no defense. |
