Bowen is 38, Thomas is 37, and Oberto is 34. I can only assume there must be some expiring contracts among those 3, because other than that I don't see how this trade really helps the Bucks at all.

Just as I expected. From the article on ESPN.com
The Bucks incentive to make the trade is largely financial. Bowen, Oberto and Thomas are all in the last year of their contracts. The deal will clear $15 million off the books for the Bucks next season and give Milwaukee more flexibility for next year. It also saves them roughly $3 million this year. That may give the Bucks the wiggle room to sign one of their restricted free agents -- either Charlie Villanueva or Ramon Sessions -- next year. The move also opens up some playing time for the Bucks lottery pick last year, Joe Alexander. |

Jeez, could we have picked up any more geriatrics? Redd would've made more sense.

Good trade. They can now pick Hill with #10. Then trade Bowen, plus to get another pg at the beginning of round 2 or late round1

With the particl guarantees? You bet that's what they're going to do. But I ask this- is CV and RS worth it? I mean, neither is a star, and both are coming off productive but uneven seasons. It's not like the Bucks are looking at playoffs and real contention. They're a long ways from that. CV is still young, so maybe he has enough upside. Personally, I don't know what to think about CV anymore. I've hoppped back and forth on him- sometimes I see star, sometimes I see not. |

Bucks not done, dealing Oberto to Pistons for Amir Johnson
That's a win for the Bucks. Good rebounder and shot-blocker and he's only 22. |

I think the consensus is that they'll take one of the many PGs. It's a deep position.

Flynn is who I want. Henderson I would take along with Hill who won't last.

Everyone's all over the board on Hill. Some earlier than the bUcks some later. He's a project, though, and that worries me. With all the intriguing PGs in the draft, you have to think they'll take one. The Timberwolves' trade today mussies the water even more.
I would like Henderson, but I think Jonny Flynn is the guy they want. Luc Richard Mbah a Moute (spell THAT leg humper) said that is his pick as well in an ESPN article. |

are most NBA GM's complete morons? Every year there are trades that have nothing to do with talent and everything to do with unloading bad contracts. Why so many bad contracts?

The bucks are a bad team with or without redd. He is a one trick pony. They should get rid of him now before he loses any value. He is at best a third option on a good team, a very good third option.
