This is an interesting read from a Bulls fan, seems like a somewhat honest assessment:
Sheriff Skiles Rides Into Milwaukee Everything I read seems to indicate Skiles has an ascerbic side, but right now, for this team, I will buy what he's selling. No way Skiles takes this job without Hammond, so all ready the GM choice is paying dividends. |

Now the real work begins.
Better get the people from Extreme Makeover on the phone. They must have paid Hammond well, why would anyone want this job. |

The difference between the Bucks and the Bulls was that they have a few players that are already tired of losing. The Bulls never really understood what it was like to lose until this year. As a result, they lacked leadership, and when they brought in chronic Malcontent Ben Wallace, it was all over.
You can see it from Bogut's comments about toughness- Bogut will absolutely LOVE playing for Skiles, who will make the Bucks back court accountable for their lack of D. He will have no bigger cheerleader than Andrew Bogut. But this also means that Mo Williams is on the chopping block. If Mo was tuning LK out, you can bet that he won't want to hear what Skiles has to say. Charlie Bell will be in the strting lineup right away- he's a Skiles kind of player. Sessions will have to be tough, as the blogger suggests- but he will be better fior it if he buys into it. Scott Skiles learned some lessons in Chicago. He will have far more free reign to crack the whip in Milwaukee, where the Bucks fans are tired of their team being labelled soft. That will be the big difference between Chicago and Milwaukee- the fans will encourage Skiles to kick some ass. |

I would like to see Skiles get rough in a couple downtown bars just to send a message.

It's interesting that some info I heard tonight says that Carlisle actually would have come here, Milwaukee was his first choice. But Hammond's first choice was Skiles. So I'll defer to Hammond's judgment, especially since he knew Carlisle in Detroit.

Okay, I'm excited.
The audio links for the press conference are up at jsonline http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=741837 I also think credit should be given to Herb Kohl for recognizing there was a problem and giving Hammond the authority to go out and try to fix things. |

I would have also preferred Carlisle but Skiles is still a major upgrade over the last few guys that have been there. The good news is that he won't tolerate selfish basketball or chemistry problem guys, and that's exactly what this team needs.
Now you have to believe that the roster will be made over at some point and if I were a betting man there's a good chance guys like Mo Williams and Redd and Charlie V and Simmons might not be around. |

I think it can be done. But there's $20M each in salaries between Simmons and Gadz, and that's no small obstacle. |
