According to Hoopshype the proposal was Prince and Billups for Carmelo and the offer was rejected by Denver.

Yeah, two defensive minded players and Denver doesn't need any of that. Roll Eyes

How about the Bucks package the moon and bring Carmelo to Milwaukee? It might be fantasyland, but Anthony in Milwaukee finally gives them the star-level player they have lacked at a position they need.

The only player untouchable is Bogut- the rest could be included in the deal, as far as I am concerned. It would also be a nice way for Karl to re-pay the Bucks for all he did in the Ray Allen deal... Mad

Funny about Detroit trying to get Anthoney. They sure screwed the pooch when they drafted Milicic instead of Anthony, Bosh or Wade. They probably would have had a few more titles during their run.

I am sure every team has a move or two they would like to take back. Don't you think the Wolves would have preferred holding onto Ray Allen instead of dealing him for Stephon Marbury on draft day? How about MN letting Chauncey go? Could you imagine a core of KG/Allen/Billups? The Bucks, I am fairly certain, would have held onto Nowitski had they known his NBA future. Instead they dealt for the Tractor Traylor.

I believe there was some deal in place that allowed Milwaukee to take Dirk. Without that deal, he's not there to be drafted by the Bucks.

That was the NBA/Detroit equivalent of GB taking Mandarich instead of guys like Deion, Barry Sanders, DT, Aikman

Billups wasn't that great with MN, and back then Meebury was actually pretty decent (with MN). The Allen / Meebury trade worked out well for both teams.

Everyone ripped their decision at the time. They got far too cute with the selection. It is far from hindsight.

Also, no way the Bucks would have ever had Nowitzki. If Dallas had not worked out the trade with Milwaukee they would have drafted Nowitzki for themselves. This has been discussed ad nauseum on this forum over the years.

Also, the Wolves only drafted Ray Allen because that is who the Bucks wanted in the trade. Had they not been willing to deal Marbury the Wolves would have taken Kerry Kittles. Which would have been even worse than having had Marbury for the 2 years he was here.

Lastly, Billups sucked with the Wolves. He also sucked in Denver, Boston and Toronto. It wasn't until he got teamed up with the Pistons that he actually became a good player.

The bottom line is I don't think it makes much sense to criticize the Pistons. They won a World Championship without Anthony in 03-04. Sure they COULD have won more but Anthony COULD have also disrupted that team chemistry. Now, I am sure Dumars realizes the team needs to get younger in a hurry.

Chauncey Billups didn't "suck" before arriving in Detroit. He just wasn't living up to his billing. That doesn't necessarily means he "sucked". It happens in sports. Some players take time to develop. Billups averaged double digits in every season except one prior to arriving in Detroit.

Again, the Bucks screwed themselves not taking Paul Pierce over either of those players. Ugh...people how many more times do we rehash this????
