grpack,
1. What ever happened to that monster (or at least thats what I thought it was) 2. What happened to that little Black kid and his father? The one that was divorced from his wife? 3. So 6 got rescued and when Hurley said in the Gym (while shooting hoops) never say never about going back to the island... Are you thinking they will and try to rescue the rest of them? |

1.) Still there. We even saw it kill one of the cast members (Mr. Echo from the tail section of the plane) last season. It is black smoke, but seems to be able to take form. 2.) At the end of season 2, the "others" let Walt and his Dad, Michael, go in a small boat with coordinates off the island. They do this to reward Michael for helping them capture some of the survivors. Michael, was definately a traitor, but he did it to get his son rescued. We never see Michael or Walt again in season 3 till the very end, when Walt (looking much older for someone who only crashed a couple of months ago) comes to Locke and gives him some orders. 3.) That would be my quess |

The smoke monster is still around, but it hasn't appeared yet this year. It's still a big mystery. The little black kid is Walt, and his father is Michael .. who I mentioned in some other posts. They left the island via boat at the end of season two .. I think they are on the freighter of those "rescuers". I would guess they'll be appearing pretty soon. #3 .. yeah, they'll find some way back to the island. I would guess that will play out some this season. Oops .. just noticed that JAPF summed things up pretty well. |

And that is where the show became un-watchable for me. |

First off, I love the show. I'm totally addicted.
As for this last episode, this is my theory. The 4 people that dropped in are Dharma. I think they have been sent in to kill the natives (not Ben, but the REAL others, the ones who don't age and killed Dharma years ago and shoved them in a big hole) and take the island back. They know Ben led that mission. It makes sense that Dharma would send: an archeologist (we know she works for them because of her recovering that polar bear's Dharma collar), a paranormal investigator, and a physicist when you know what the island is like. It's crazy stuff. I love it though. Those writers are brilliant. |

I think I agree Grave Digger .. I think those people are the "new Dharma Initiative".
Another thing I thought was interesting last night .. not sure if anyone caught it or not. Daniel, one of the "rescuers" said something about how the sunlight on the island doesn't scatter right. It made me think the island might be an artificial world or something. Kinda neat .. another something to ponder. |

We've known since S1 that the island has odd physical properties so his comments weren't suprising at all. Electromagnetism and now we hear light itself acts odd there.
One unique thing I really appreciate about this show is how so far, each season has had a particular theme/setting to it and they've been quite different from each other. S1 - Crash aftermath, getting to know the survivors, the island and it's oddities. S2 - Learning of the tail survivors and how they come together with the original group, plus being introduced to the Others. S3 - Learning about the Others, their history and that of Dharma, how they are related. S4 - Introduction to a group from the outside world, flash forwards, ??? Each season seems to at least start out fresh and new, widening the scope of the story. I think the writers said they're done after S6 so my bet is they spend all of S5 on the mainland, focusing on the Oceanic 6 and mainland elements of Dharma and Ben. Then S6 goes back on the island to resolve whatever issues remain. |

Yeah, it's no secret the island has some strange properties .. I just thought it was a bit of an odd comment .. kind of out of the blue. I guess I think it means something important, or they wouldn't have bothered writing it in the script. Maybe Desmond was right when he said that he was trapped in a damn snow globe way back when his boat kept going in circles. I kind of thought though that the shield, or cload was down since they blew up the electromagnetic station, and the sky turned purple. |

Yeah, they were supposed to have 48 episodes over the next three seasons with a completed storyline at the end, but the writer's strike is throwing a monkey wrench into the works. |

It's never been said definately, but it seems that way. I think there may be a rip in the shield that occured after Desmond turned the key, and blew up the electro station. The sky turned purple, and a loud noise was heard for a few moments. Something must be wrong because now people can get onto the island by parachute, and helicopter. I'm guessing the island is currently exposed to the outside world. |

This may be a little far fetched but this is my theory on the whole situation. Oceanic 815 went down in the water and everyone died. The people on the island however, were not on Oceanic 815. I think these people were handpicked (mostly because they have nothing really to live for) and are in, as you say, an artificial world or virtual reality. I think them being in a virtual reality actually explains everything. That's why there Black Smoke Monsters and why some people never age. They're all computer images. The Black Smoke I think protects the reality from being discovered. Ben is like the creator of the Matrix and can't leave which is why they're extracting him. I think "leaving the island" is code or something for exiting the reality. Didn't the writers says they're in this universe and it's the present and they're alive. Under my theory, they are all of the above. Not dead, their bodies are in our universe and time but their minds are in a program. I guess I have too much time on my hands!!!! haha |
