Some bands simply have a more negative impact than positive one, yet still receive occasional airplay. The following list contains bands whose entire catalog can be stricken from the record, as though they never existed, and the world would be a better place. Boy bands, bubblegum pop, etc. for all their worthlessness, was to easy a target, and honestly seldom interrupt my sources of music.

#5. Red Hot Chili Peppers. This one was tough, I like the song "Rollercoaster," and they do a nice cover of Stevie Wonder's "Higher ground," but ultimately, the bad outweighs the good. We get it, you are from California.
#4. Maroon 5. Please make it stop.
#3. tie Nickleback and Creed. Maybe I was just a sucker, but I had high hopes. This could be quality rock and roll. Like a jilted lover, I hold them in contempt.
#2. Dave Mathews Band. I have no idea what the appeal is, none. Please don't try to enlighten me.
#1. Depeche Mode. bum bumpa bum bumpa bum bumpa bum, Own. bumpa bum bumpa bum, Personal. bumpa bum bumpa bum, Jesus.

#5 - Clay Aiken : Liberace meets Wayne Newton meets Howdy Doody. Go away already and take that crime against nature of a show that introduced you with you.

#4 - Limp Bizkit : 'Nuf said.

#3 - Nirvana : Mother Love Bone did first and better. Dave Grohl does much better work these days too.

#2 - The Bee Gees : Polyester leisure suits and crap pop are not something we should want to revisit.

#1 - AC/DC : For those about to rock, we hope you choose something besides this mindless drivel. The best way to improve this band is a lot more vomit.

It's all about personal choice. I loves me some AC/DC! So what if they've put out the same album 25 times?

Bands I could live without:
#10: Sublime - How much teen-age, white-boy pseudo-reggae do I have to put up with? I'm only one man!
#9: Def Leppard - dammit they piss me off. They used to rock! For the past ten years they've been trying to turn themselves into a boy-band.
#8: My Chemical Romance - I despise this depressing, angst-ridden Goth crap. Includes Yellowcard, Dashboard Confessional, Fall Out Boy, Brand New, etc.
#7: Nirvana - everything since Smells Like Teen Spirit was junk. Love the Foo Fighters, though.
#6: The White Stripes - I... I just don't get it. I don't.
#5: Audioslave - I keep hearing what a great vocalist Chris Cornell is. Sounds like a cat with a sore throat.
#4: Metallica - tragically talented, but I haven't liked anything since their Garage Days remakes. I really lost faith when they took sides against Napster. Metall-a-hundred-million-in-the-bank-isn't-enuff-ica.
#3: John "Cougar" Mellencamp - didn't like him when he was popular. Hearing "This is ooouuuuuurrrrrrrr country" 50,000 times hasn't changed my mind any.
#2A: Bob Dylan - OK. He hasn't been in the spotlight much lately, but he's another one I couldn't listen to. Writer? Yes. Singer, God, no.
#2B: Neil Young - see Bob Dylan. For all the same reasons.
#1: Bruce Springsteen - he won't make a lot of these lists, but I can't stand him. He songs are all the same and he sounds like an idiot - reminds me of Rocky with a guitar.

He couldn't sing, write, or play a guitar worth a crap. Why people bought his records is a huge mystery to me.

AC/DC? I haven't bought any of their newer stuff but the older stuff rocked!!! You Shook Me, Who Made Who, Hell's Bells, Back in Black, Highway to Hell........

I have all of AC/DC's discs and, to be honest, I'm not even sure why. It seems like they've put out the same disc 20 times now. The songwriting is better on some, but basically it's the same formula over and over. In my opinion, if you get Let There Be Rock, Highway to Hell and Back In Black, then you have all of the AC/DC discs.

I'd have no problem with seeing bands like Def Leppard and Queensryche disbanded. After your main songwriter leaves (or dies) and you are reduced to recording cover albums and/or playing state fairs, it's just about time to call it a day and gracefully retire the name.

Don't forget Powerage - probably my favorite overall.

I think the fact that they keep the same formula is the reason I like them so much. They haven't "matured" and disenfranchised generations of fans - like Def Leppard, Metallica, Night Ranger, Queensryche and many others have. I like the fact that I can buy any of their CDs and be confident that I'll like it.

I gotta cry foul on Neil Young and The White Stripes.

Neither one try to make music that other people will like. Which I think is the main reason to "dismiss" certain bands.

#1 Springsteen for the exact same reasons that Since69 used.
#2 Metallica. I was a huge 80's metal fan and liked some of their early stuff but the whole Napster thing will make me never listen to them.
#3 The Who. I know they are hugely popular but just cant stand them
#4 Any boy band, disco, or 70's pop
#5 80's hair bands
#5a Mellencamp, Cougar or whatever his name is this week

IHMO the one to me that deserves a list all their own is Styx. Nothing said cheesy like that bunch of crap.

Some stripes stuff is really, really good

favorite AC/DC song

Two bands that suit my taste, but I understand why someone else would like to eliminate their play list.

The only genra that could be summarily dismissed is disco IMHO, but, as I mentioned in my criteria above, I seldom cross paths with that type of music. Depeche Mode, on the other hand, why the hell do I catch a DM song on "Lucy" at least once a week?

As a boy Depeche Mode were my favorite band. I believe I have everyone of their pre-90's albums somewhere.

He's my #1 as well. Great supporting band, a really good man, but that voice...

You might not like him but maybe he is an extremely talented musician. The guy can play almost any instrument. I was lucky enough to see him play an acoustic show and he played everything from the banjo to the pipe organ with a little harmonica in between.

Then maybe he should stick to instrumentals. Wink

I gotta throw in REO after they decided to get all wussy with the ballads. Golden Country is a great song. Gary R. was a fun guy to watch live. Keep on lovin' you = barf

For the most part I agree, but the Dirty Deeds LP should be listed as a must have.
