Cyd danced with Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, and a host of others in the 1940s and 1950s before turning to straight dramatic acting. Perhaps her best-remembered role might be as the woman who dances with Gene Kelly in the extended dance sequence (no dialog) toward the end of Singin' in the Rain:

She was one of my faves from when I was growing up, my dad was a big gene kelly fan and she was in alot of movies with him (or maybe I just remember it that way)...but my favorite will always be Brigadoon. Man, she had legs that went on for miles.

Spy Movie buffs will never forget her:

Syd was hot in "Singing In The Rain". My daughter will be bummed--we just watched it a few weeks ago. Whenever we watch an old movie together, she always asks, "Is he (or she) still alive?" Don't know why.
