I know that Finns drink a lot, but this takes the cake.... Driver Caught Drunk at the Wheel -- for 36th Timequote: On Saturday morning, police in Turenki, near Hämeenlinna, southern Finland, caught a 57-year-old man driving drunk for the 36th time.
He was found at the wheel in a shop parking lot with a blood-alcohol content of four percent -- eight times over the legal limit of 0.5 percent. {ed: I presume they mean promille; the figures would then translate to a legal limit of 0.05 and the driver blowing a 0.40, which is still quite high, although there are variations in the way BAC content is measured}
Police say the man was first caught driving under the influence in 1979. Since then, his driving licence has been revoked longer than it has been valid. He has been completely forbidden from driving since 2005.
This time, his legal troubles were exacerbated by the fact that his car was banned from the roads because it was uninspected and past taxes were due on it.
